“Selective perception” is such a basic principle in psych… anyone who’s taken even a first year course is well aware of this phenomenon.
We see what we want or expect to see.
And that, in a nutshell, m’dears, is THE problem with human beings.
And that is why there’s NO SUCH THING AS ONE TRUTH. Each of us views “facts” through our own lens… and what we see is TRUTH to us. Religions are a clear example.
I doubt we’ll ever change and that’s why I think it’s touch and go for the future of the human race.
As that movie guy said “You can’t handle the TRUTH!” I guess that’s why we make up our own “truths” and hold on for dear life in spite of “facts” or even clear, irrefutable evidence to the contrary. Ain’t humans grand?
