Whole Body Bikini
From WholesomeWear via Wash Po

WholesomeWear’s suit wraps a woman’s form in a cocoon of nylon.

The Christian makers of this ultra-conservative exercise in modesty say their swimsuit is “a ministry.” But a Washington Post reporter writes, “one wonders how a swimsuit ‘ministry’ can save anyone’s soul when such ungainly suits have so little appreciation for beauty.”

Washington Post:

The makers of WholesomeWear swimsuits would like women to cover up their tummies. And their backs. And their arms. And half their legs. The Oregon company, based outside Portland, sells a collection of swimwear online that consists of a wet suit topped by a dress. The spandex underpinning is not sufficient on its own because bystanders would still be able to make out the curves of the woman’s body. The nylon overdress takes care of any audacious display of an hourglass shape.

The collection is not aimed at practitioners of any specific religion. There is no obvious mention of spirituality, God, Allah or Joseph Smith on the company’s Web site.

“There are still people in this world who prefer modesty,” says Joan Ferguson, who handles sales for the company. “So my son, his wife and daughter designed the product.”

“There are still people in this world who prefer modesty,” says Joan Ferguson…”

We could perhaps delve into the factors that underpin that “preference” but I suspect it has a lot to do with NOT having “it” to flaunt “it.” It should be made a CRIME to teach young people their bodies are somehow “immodest.” It’s ridiculous… NUDITY should be the NORM.

To many, ANYTHING to do with SEXUAL ATTRACTION is a NO-NO. And when a bunch of “uglies” get together they seem to naturally focus on scheming to find ways to force everyone else to join them in their lack of self esteem and other insecurities. It’s pure jealousy.

I have to laugh at the efforts of those who promote “BIG IS BEAUTIFUL.” Sorry, to me a big, fat out-of-shape human body, male or female, young or old, is not the least bit beautiful and SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO BE COVERED AT ALL TIMES when in public. Specially those wrapped in SPANDEX - makes them look like lumpy, uncooked sausages! YECH!

A also checked the site and debated whether to send them… less modest and more stylish suggestions.

Why bother buying such swimwear? Just wear hubby’s extra large t-shirt and boxer shorts. That should do the job, as the suits are obviously intended for the severely obese.

I went to the website to have a look.  It,s not that bad. I live in a state with a lot of lakes and my kids were lifeguards. Many girls and women will not even go to the beach because of the stress of wearing a bathing suit. Swimming is great exercise and if this get up gets them out there moving, what’s the problem?  Just don’t make everyone wear it.

These people need to review their bible.  God created Adam and Eve naked with no instructions on how to make bikinis out of fig leaves.

And will we see the neckline of this “whole body” suit inch ever upward until it covers the head and has a slit or mesh to look through, and the hem go down to the ankles, to prevent sun burn and sandfly bites?

A burqa is a burqa, whatever they call it.

What is the WholesomeWear slogan, I wonder?

“Making life miserable for women, one ugly suit at a time.”

I’m ususally quick to outrage on the religious stuff but… this does not effect me.

I don’t care.  Cover up if you want to.  Heck, stay home if you want to.

Just so long as you don’t prevent me from coming to the beach in my traditional jockstrap, viking hat and swim fins.
