Humanity Lost in Lebanon

Posted on Jul 13, 2006
Bombs in Lebanon

Smoke rises from an Israeli air raid in Lebanon’s Zahrani region, on the Mediterranean coast, on Wednesday. Hezbollah fighters launched a raid into Israel and captured two Israeli soldiers Wednesday, triggering an Israeli assault with warplanes, gunboats and ground troops in southern Lebanon to hunt for the captives. Seven Israeli soldiers, two Lebanese civilians and a guerrilla were killed in the violence.

As Israeli warplanes ravage Beirut in retaliation for Lebanon-based Hezbollah raids, a prominent Beirut-based blogger decries being made a “pawn on the board of an imaginary game.” He is “infuriated that such risks and actions can be taken with absolute disregard of the lives that are at stake, the lives of the people that make a country what it is.”

A Lebanese Blogger:

I am not a pawn on the board of an imaginary game, and neither are the rest of the Lebanese, Palestinian and Israeli civilians whose lives are being toyed with. This behavior on the part of these leaders that were elected to lead their people is deplorable. I am infuriated that such risks and actions can be taken with absolute disregard of the lives that are at stake, the lives of the people that make a country what it is.

Has this region learned absolutely nothing from the last 50 plus years? Have all the past wars and deaths gone in vain? What kind of a civilization is this where leaders trivialize the lives of their citizens for their own personal causes? What kind of a civilization is this where people cheer army warfare?

Hey guys, Let me tell you a story about Israel.

So there was this guy Pete, he lived on the same street as Jorge, Evan, and Sam. One day, a boy named Ivan, who lived about 40 minutes away, Was rejected by all those in his street, So the police settled it by moving Ivan to Pete’s house telling pete to go live on the street, maybe stay at jorge’s house or Sam’s, who ever would let him.

Anyway meanwhile pete wasn’t too happy about it, neither was sam or jorge who had to have pete staying over and feed him and take care of him. So Jorge, Sam, evan and Pete they all devised a plot against Ivan. So Ivan in pete’s house, with the help of the police where able to overcome all 4 of these guys with brute force. So Sam, Evan, and Jorge they thought shit this is too much, and gave up on old pete. So Pete’s still out of his home, with no reason behind it, except that Ivan said that someone said he could just take pete’s house. So the police were obviously obliged to help Ivan, being in such a poor state.

Now Pete got desprate started throwing stones at Ivan’s house in hope to get ivan out, but.. the police started to give Ivan weapons, and the right to use them, so Ivan continued to force pete out of his own house. Then someone came by from another street a few minutes away and saw that Pete was throwing stones at “Ivan’s House” and started to assume that pete was some kind of barbarian. So everyone decides to help Israel, i mean Ivan, and continue to support their terrorism.

Wow, such passion.  This battle has been going on since Abraham took Ismael to a distant land.  We are one family (Muslim, Christian, & Jew).

Honestly, I think all of these paths can lead to the Truth taught by God.  However, when you indiscriminately shoot rockets into an area where there are men, women, and children I think you’ve ruined all hopes of going to any higher place.  When you protect your people from those who would kill them I think you may be forgiven.  When you go beyond destroying those who would kill you and indiscriminately kill women and children God knows.

When you hide your weapons amonst your own children God Knows.  When you fire weapons from areas occupied by civilians God knows.

This is just my feelings about what I have been taught about the God of Abraham.  Christ lived under occupation.  He spoke against those who ran the Jewish Church of his time because they had turned the house of God into a den for the money changers and for that they insured that he would DIE.  Their religion had very little to do with the threat they felt on their POWER.

All three of these religions accept Jesus as a teacher.  “Blessed are The PEACEMAKERS” no matter what path they choose.  “In my fathers house there are many mansions”.

Israel was given the right to live in the land they occupy by the World after WWII.  Israel has been fighting off attacks by the arab nations forever.  They have decided to use force because they have been attacked.

I’m glad that they are finally fighting their own battles.  I’m tired of U.S. forces dying fighting battles that are lies.  I’m tired of Bush talking about using force to Iran’s ambitions.  Israel is the one that is threatened by Iran’s actions.  Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia are the real terrorist nations.  Under Bush the U.S. has become a terrorist nation guilty of War Crimes.

I will shed no tears for Hezbula.  You live by the sword youy die by the sword.  You hide around civilians, use children to fight your battles and attack women and children in Israel.  The only way Israel can defend itself is to respond heavily on all who have a hand in attacks against them and their cousins too.

The U.S. needs to redeploy as Mr. Murtha said.  It is not our fight but we should use diplomacy to bring about some form of PEACE.  These actions are another reason for us to redeploy quickly.

We need to stop being pawns for the WTO.  We need to let others fight their own battles.  We can still selectivly use force to allow legitimate governments to exist free from undue intimidation from militias.

The sad part about these misguided militias is that they do provide legitimate humanitarian services to those who support them.  It is the component that provokes gurilla actions that needs to be dealt with harshly.

I hope Israel does destroy the Iranians nuclear facilities and place a few choice shots in the Iranian leaders backyard maybe even kill him and his family.  This whole thing has been provoked by Iran with its nuclear ambitions and its money and rockets to hezbula.

“A land without a people for a people without a land” was the pitch that Zionists used to win supporters.  No matter that the Palestinians have been indigenous to the Holy Land for well over a millenium..  Doubt this?
Well it just so happens that in the late eighties, at the beginning of the first Intifada, returning from the Holy Land, yours truly carried back the family tree of the Dajani family, one of Palestine’s best and finest..  This tree was more than thirteen hundred names long and well over a thousand years deep.  And that’s just one family.  One of the Dajanis who happens to be living in America still carries the key to the house that he lived in right up to Nakba (l948 Jewish-Arab war) when he, along with hundeds of thousands of other Palestinians,  was forced out of his homeland by the Jewish settler army.
Turns out that the above slogan, even though it was a lie,  expressed what the Zionists truly felt about the Palestinian people.  Just so much flotsam, more or less.
Nothing’s changed since then.  The Zionists still insist that Jewish people are entitled to the Holy Land because of what Christian Europeans did to them down through the ages and on account of some ancient scriptures of dubious authenticity.  Sorry folks, but the Arabs in general and the Palestinians in particular had nothing to do with all those atrocities that were perpetrated upon Jews.
So until the settler-state Israel recognizes those facts, there’ll be no peace in the Holy Land.  Actually there is one other way to get there and that’s for us Americans to force our government to cease and desist in its support of Israel,  and instead that it demand justice for the Palestinian people.
And now a little clarification is in order, which is that not all Zionists are Jews and not all Jews are Zionists.  Indeed there are many Jews who oppose the settler-state israel and support the Palestinian cause.  The reason for this is elemental.  One is either on the side of the slave or on the side of the slaveowner.  There is no in-between..  To be conquered is to be enslaved.  Could anything be easier?

The US response is truly fantastic. As Israel mows down Lebanese civilians in their homes and lays waste to the entire Lebanese infrastructure, Bush says, “Well, you have our blessing for what you’ve done so far, but just try not to do anything that might destabilize the (pro-US) Lebanese government”!

Perhaps Bush would tell his daughter Jenna, “At the next state dinner, It’s OK if you go on a beer binge and drink till you vomit or lose consciousness - but just don’t carry it too far.”

There is no moral high ground in this conflict.  Only the rush to the lowest ground, currently occupied by Israel.  As the stronger power it needs to be the one to lead towards peace.  I find Israel’s violence horrifying.  The country now symbolizes to me the uncompromising, senseless violence of the powerful toward weak.  Sad, but true.  I am even afraid to write this because the Jewish lobby so powerful and relentless.

“Give me a break” says that Israel occupies land which was lost by the Arabs in a war that the Arabs started.

Jews and Palestinians cohabitated peacefully in the region until after WW Two when the Jews wanted a country because no one would take them in. They asked the Arabs if they would let the Jews come back to a territory marked and mapped with limits, which would be Israel. The Palestinians agreed, the British drew the map, the Israelis entered and violated the treaty and occupied by force all the territories and that’s how all the mess started. Most Americans are totally ignorant of what truly is going on, even now.

Like I keep saying, Israel is so Old Testament! They’re still playing out Joshua fighting the Battle of Jericho, where Jehovah commended Joshua to kill the men, women, children, and animals.

We’re supposed to be New Testament where Jesus taught us that the stronger party has to stop the cycle of violence ... which we now know to be true in ALL conflicts. “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.” The logic of the Christian position is that the children of God are—by definition—always the strongest.

If a Christian nation doesn’t practice Jesus’s teachings, will any nation?

The irony is inescapable.

Don’t worry, though. Nobody expects us to practice his teachings, least of all those who call themselves Christians the loudest.

“Give me a break” (GMAB) says: “Civilized people realize when a war can’t be won, it is time to stop the pointless bloodshed and either assimiliate into society under a new government, or relocate.” <b>

But the very premise, as well as the demonstrated character, of the Israeli state makes any sort of American-style “assimilation” forever impossible, since the Israeli state is founded on and passionately committed to an explicitly ethnocentric - even ethnic supremacist - ideology which condemns non-Jews to inferior status solely on the basis of ethnicity. This is really an elementary observation. I wonder whether GMAB argues in good faith, frankly.

So It’s 50 million Arabs trying to remove 5 million Jews from the Middle East.  Yeah, and it was ten million Indians trying to rid their holy lands of the invading Euoopean hordes,  wasn’t it?  And it was the Indians, not their colonizers, who broke every treaty, eh what?  Of course we know that what really happened to native-Americans was that they were the ones who got wiped out, and so it’s been with colonialism, at least up to now.  Fortunately for the Jewish settlers,  they still have a chance to step back from committing genocide.  How?  By coming to their senses and admitting that they were (are) wrong in having stolen the Palestinian people’s homeland, and then by saying to the Palestinians, “If it’s not too late, can we work this out together, based this time upon your terms & your specs?”  It’ll never happen?  That’s up to the settlers.

Geronimo says: “Who is trying to wipe who off the map? It’s the 50 million Arabs trying to remove 5 million Jews from the Middle East and not the other way around.”

Hmmmm…the Palestinians are suffering in an occupied territory. The Israelis have lost 121 children but the Palestinians have lost 734 children since September 29, 2000.

Who is it that thinks “God” gave them land and that “God” told them it is okay to blast anyone else who happens to have lived there for thousands of years?

Israel is the 4th largest military power in the world. Israel is said to have the largest and most advanced nuclear weapons outside of the U.S., China, France, Russia, and the U.K. They are the ones who have the ability to wipe others off the face of the earth. The Arabs have nothing… nothing but silence from Americans and the American Government.

Inform yourself.

Israel doesn’t occupy any land except what was lost in two wars BROUGHT UPON THEM by the Arabic states around them, land that was being used to mount attacks against Israel.  Nearly every nation on earth occupies this kind of territory won in previous conflicts.

Civilized people realize when a war can’t be won, it is time to stop the pointless bloodshed and either assimiliate into society under a new government, or relocate. This is the story of nearly every nation on earth . Unfortunately, Islamic arabs don’t seem to be civilised enough to grasp this concept.

I suppose you think it would be OK for British terrorists to attack American civilians today for occupying what used to be a British territory? Brilliant.

And for the moronic statement of the day:

Gaza and the Warsaw Ghetto

same place
different time
while the world stood by

So you are saying the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto attacked German civilian targets hundreds of times after the Germans tried to leave the area yet again, only to force the Germans to return to protect Germany from bombardment? You must have been sleeping during world history class.

Genocide? Please. Israel could accomplish that in a day with their military might if they wanted to.  Israel has shown more restraint that any western country would in the same circumstances. Can you imagine if Canadian base terrorists launched hundreds of attacks on northern American cities whiel the Canadian government did nothing to stop it? Would Americans be callign for restraint?  And after the US army rolled across the border to drive out the militants from the border area, woudl there be apologists for the militants decrying the ‘occupation’ and ‘genocide’ against Canadians? Give me a break.

“What a shame that America stands by and does NOTHING”...

This is incorrect. The United States Government is openly supporting Israel.

My guess is that Israel is tired of waiting for Bush to attack Iran and they are going to escalate it themselves. My guess is that if this happens, the U.S. Government will support it with their silence (or openly) or will sacrifice more American youth to give their blood in the Middle East for Corporate greed, the security of Israel, and for the Zionist movement to rule the world.

These are sad and horrific times that we live in. All Americans need to write their senators EVERY DAY, and tell them to stop the madness of supporting Israel’s war crimes, to impeach Bush, and to remind them of their oath to the United States Constitution and to WE THE PEOPLE.

israel is reponsible for all what happened and will happen.

israel is still occupying lebanese land,so hisbollah   have the right to defend,it’s a legal right!!

but media is trying to convince the world that the so-called israel is underattack. what a non-sense!!!

just ask yourself who’s the real terrorist these days: america and israel who are bombarding civilians and innocents, occupying countries and torturing people or people who defend their lands?
just ask yourself…..

israelis came in 1984 and now they are arguing that it’s their land, and i heard israelis talking about “security for citizens of state of israel”!!
which state are you talking about dear israelis???
an occupied state? a violated land? houses stolen from refugeed palestinans? it makes me laugh really smile
if jews were *really* tortured by nazis, they should go to germany and have a land there, not in arabia!

Re: “Has this region learned absolutely nothing from the last 50 plus years? Have all the past wars and deaths gone in vain?”

Quite possibly… or perhaps we all just underestimate the cost of such education. I mean, millions of lives lost and billions of dollars wasted during the wars of the 20th Century, and what did we learn? I submit that we learned that “war is hell” and that “billions can be made if you’re in the right business & know the right people (can you spell Halliburton?)

“What kind of a civilization is this where leaders trivialize the lives of their citizens for their own personal causes? What kind of a civilization is this where people cheer army warfare?”

I’ve learned that MOST leaders don’t really give a rat’s ass about the grunt in the trenches. There’s a million of them… easy come, easy go. Too bad the leaders have to waste time with the charade of dressing in black and looking sad while the cameras are rolling. The “leaders” think their reasons for perpetuating the hostilities TRUMP any loss of life of those at the bottom of the pecking order.

Which brings me to my second observation. FOLLOW THE DOLLAR. Who’s making money (or something of great value to them… power, prestige, control, etc.) from the conflict? I submit you’ll have your answer. (However the real reasons are usually disguised by claims of “patriotism” or “defending our nation and it’s honor from the bogeyman” or some such rubbish.)

I know it’s asking a lot… but when I find myself in situations I don’t like… I MOVE. I’m not trying to be glib… I mean it. (My) Life is far too short to waste it (or even lose it) fighting battles over which (I) you have no control and therefore cannot win. Rambo is a fantasy born of too much testosterone and too few brains.

There are plenty of nice, quiet countries left on the planet where life still has some quality left in it. Sure, you might not have all the creature comforts of “home” but then your comfort isn’t likely to be terminated by a BOMB either! Take your pick. If you choose to stay, be prepared for all the unpleasantness you KNOW will happen, and quit complaining about it. No one who’s profiting from it cares about you or your complaints.

Israel is not the problem here. The Islamists are.  Israel leaves Gaza, and the Islamists use Gaza to stage rocket attacks on Israel. Every time Israel gives the Palestinians a chance, the Palis piss it away and turn it in into an opportunity to attack Israel further.

Now Hezbollah decides to inflame things further by crossign the border and kidnapping Israelis, and people like Larry Anklam wants to blame Israel for retaliating.  That’s rich.
