Joe Lieberman
From manifoldreality.org

Conn. Sen. Joe Lieberman will form a new political party if he loses the August Democratic primary to challenger Ned Lamont.

Well, we knew this was coming, but now it’s official: Sen. Joe Lieberman has created a new political party that he will use to appear on the November ballot if he loses the Democratic primary in August.

  • As such a move would amount to sticking his thumb in the eye of Conn. voters, the name of his new political party is deliciously ironic: Connecticut for Lieberman.

  • Maybe he should have picked something more representative of his backing: Lieberman for Lieberman

    AP via Newsday:

HARTFORD, Conn.—Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman filed paperwork Monday that will allow him to collect signatures to petition his way onto the November ballot if he loses an August primary.

Lieberman’s campaign announced the move in an e-mail to reporters.

The three-term senator faces a tough Aug. 8 primary challenge from Greenwich businessman Ned Lamont. Lieberman, who has been criticized by fellow Democrats for his support of the war in Iraq and a perceived closeness with President Bush, is popular among many unaffiliated and Republican voters in Connecticut.

Lieberman also filed papers with the secretary of the state’s office Monday to create a new party called Connecticut for Lieberman.

    Pragmatique (#13421),
Not sure if you’re being tongue-in-cheek with this one, but Lieberman’s one of the AIPAC (the kryptonite of modern politics and free speech) favored sons.

Don’t know about Oil PACs, but he gets by pretty well on Military Contractor and Pharmaceutical donations as well.  Happy reading!

Former New York Mayor, Ed Koch, told us why voted for Bush and the Republicans in this past presidential election after having sixty years of affiliation with the Democratic Party. Another “Democrat”, Lanny Davis, appeared on C-SPAN on July 9th supporting Lieberman’s allegiance to Bush’s War. Several callers did mention what they thought was the real reason for Lieberman’s present support for Bush and the war. Davis then used the most effective silencing tool by calling the callers “Bigots.”

Someone needs to sit Joe down and explain to him that if he loses the Primary, IT’S BECAUSE THE VOTERS DON’T WANT HIM ANYMORE.

Lieberman is obviously being run as a spoiler to preserve the Republican majority in the senate.

Rove for Lieberman might be a more appropriate title for hic 3rd party program.

Lieberman seems like an outdated, shelf life expired joke. His shameless support for the Iraq fiasco/failure and his constantly providing cover for the corrupt and irresponsible Republicans and their failed and incompetent conservative policies merits his removal from office.

In 1988, Lieberman defeated Connecticut’s three-term Republican senator, Lowell Weicker. Two years later, Weicker decided to run for governor of his homestate, but not as a Republican. Instead, he started a new party, but he didn’t call it “Connecticut for Weicker.” Instead, he called it “A Connecticut Party.” Why? Because Lowell Weicker—one of the GOP’s last true liberals—didn’t put his career ahead of the people of Connecticut!

Incidentally, Weicker was elected governor, but decided not to run for a second term in 1994.

I am so voting for Ned Lamont!

Does anyone know if Joe as ever taken money from Israeli lobbists, or oil company lobbists, during his political career?

His own party?  Is that like an own-goal in soccer, a score for the other side?  Actually for him that’s nothing new. He’s always been on the other side.
