Speaking about the North Korean missile situation, Bush told reporters, “You know, the problem with diplomacy is it takes a while to get something done,” while “acting alone, you can move quickly.”

  • Someone call John Foster Dulles, or better yet, Henry Kissinger: They’ve got some competition....

  • AP via the N.Y. Times:

President Bush said Friday he is determined to rally world support in confronting North Korea over its missile tests to speak “loud and clear.”

At the same time, Bush told reporters, “You know, the problem with diplomacy is it takes a while to get something done” while “acting alone, you can move quickly.”

In a rare out-of-town news conference, Bush said it was important to bring the issue of North Korea’s missile tests before the U.N. Security Council.

Leaving felicity smith’s far fetched comments aside, harald hardrada (#13236) is typical of those whose partisanship has replaced reality as their view of the world.  If asked to substantiate his opinion that we’re heading into a recession (and the implication that our economy is bad now), he’ll be able to cite no legitimate data aside from his agenda to discredit current economic policy.

Harald, I challenge you or anyone else to cite valid data that refutes current US economic success.  If you can’t, then do you keep repeating the same false mantra simply in the hope that it will become true?

we need to judge team bush by what they do & by what their results are, not by what they say—so far, they’ve taken our military to breaking point by bogging it down in iraq while reducing iraq’s oil production & while taking away the rights of iraqi women

the key is still our economy, which is going into recession but will recover somewhat before it goes into an extended depression—several years after bush is gone, the consequences of his actions will be a domestic military takeover of america—progressives are paving the way by refusing to join charlie rangel in calling for universal conscription: a volunteer military whose civilian leaders continually waste its human resources & its armaments has no choice but to throw out the civilians

during the vietnam war, once our presence on the ground grew to where it affected all families in america, the civilian population threw out their leaders—but today we haven’t got enough troops in iraq to matter to most americans, specially as they know their own kids aren’t necessarily exposed, just as bush’s twins aren’t, just as lieberman’s kids aren’t, just as hillary’s daughter isn’t, just as cheney’s daughters aren’t, just as kerry’s daughters aren’t, just as mccain’s kids aren’t, ad nauseum

Listening to The Decider is like listening to a schizophrenic - and I’ve listened to a few in my day.  Put clinically, and politely, schizophrenia is a type of psychosis characterized by loss of contact with the environment and by disintegration of the personality. The NYTimes article linked here is a classic profile of a schizophrenic if there ever was one.
