The N.Y. Times’ Modest Proposal to the GOPPosted on Jun 23, 2006From one of today’s Times editorials: “Given the topics that have preoccupied Congress lately, one wonders why the Republicans don’t simply propose a catchall bill aimed at illegal gay liberal Mexican flag burners and be done with it.”

I’m sorry, maybe I’m missing something - and I mean that. If someone can explain to me why the democratic congress is considered a “do nothing congress” I’d like to know. From what I heard Ted Kennedy say a few weeks ago on NPR, he can’t call a hearing, he can’t submit a subpoena - the Republican congress calls the shots. So, truly, can the Dems do anything? Have they been able to do anything these past five years? Against Bush’s destroying America - how could the Dems have stopped him?
