Vatican Rages at Contraception, Gay Unions

In a newly released report, the Vatican described same-sex marriages as an “eclipse of God,” and said that feminism “reinforced the individualistic image of man and woman” and in doing so was “surpassing the family.”

The Scotsman:

The Vatican yesterday made one of its strongest ever condemnations of contraception and abortion as it underlined the importance of family values.

In a furious attack senior churchmen also blamed feminism for “exacerbating” problems within the relationships of men and women.

The Vatican said the feminist movement had “reinforced the individualistic image of man and woman”, and by doing so was “surpassing the family”.

The 60-page document - which was issued by the Pontifical Council for the Family with the full backing of Pope Benedict XVI - also described same- sex unions as an “‘eclipse of God.’’

Well, the Davinci crap was all made up anyway! It was just some sicko’s imagination going alittle too far. You should know as a Christian that Christ came down for one reason and one reason only and it was not to get married, have children and raise a family. He came down for our redemption. There is no mention of any of that nonsense in the gospals and to make up stupid rumours and leading people astray from the truth is perhaps one of the biggest sins of all.
Some like to think that the bible is just a book and that no one need not pay any attention to the church anymore! well, if you call yourself a Christian, know that the only reason you know who Christ was is because of the church. The only reason people even know anything about Christ is because his life and nature have been written down in the bible. That’s it, and that’s all. So you can sit there and deny the church and the scriiptures all you want, but the bottom line and the truth of it is, you’ll never be able to refute that fact! If your now going to believe in some depraved man’s imaginative story that’s based around some lame artist’s depiction of the last supper, you’ll be taken in by any B.S that people throw at you. I wonder sometimes if even half the Christians out there who rebel against the word of God even read the bible to have such a strong opinion. If some people think that they can go out and do what they want and not think there will be any consequences to there actions, there wrong! Christ showed us obedience to God, even unto death.

The preceding comments are so gratifying! I am glad there are reasoning people out there who can see the evil the Catholic Church has done for centuries. I was brought up in the strictest of Catholic households. It has taken years of pain, study and therapy to rid my old (73)brain/soul of the horrors imprinted on me from early childhood. The Church’s methods are exactly like cults’s. I’ve always wondered about the “why” of things…what people do and why, and I have come to understand how all the patriachal religions have one great fear - women. The uproar about “The DaVinci Code” is all about Christ having a sexual relationship with a woman - this is driving the “holy” men crazy! The implication is that Christ - since they decided he was divine -  would never stoop to loving anyone as lowly as woman. Oh my, no! I wonder from whence the pope thinks he came. Cheers!

C Quil: Hear hear!!

The Catholic Church is THE most oppressive body this world has ever known.  They have, in order to maintain their power at whatever cost, misled millions of people over thousands of years.

I dream of a day when the Catholic Church is denounced and marginalized for the evil force that it is - a day when the doors of the Vatican can be blown open (figuratively) and the truth of the Church’s actions through the centuries can see the light of day.  A day when we will look back at the utter absurdity of religion (in all of its forms - but especially the patriarchal BS spewing from Rome) and laugh at those poor people so caught up in it.

Our response to their rediculous dark-age mentality edicts and reports should just be, “blah, blah, blah…”

Hey,  Pope Benedict XVI, before issuing a 60 page document on the “evils” of feminism, same sex marriage and contraceptives, how about admitting that your predecessors were wrong for what they did to Galileo, not to mention the Crusades, the Inquisition,  their partnership with the Conquisadores in wiping out indigenous civilizations,  let alone the Vatican’s complicity in the Holocaust.  Oh, I forgot, you can’t admit any wrongdoing because that would raise questions as to your infallibility, being that you’re informed by God herself on matters of heavenly concern.  Don’t be surprised, though, if the rest of us pay no attention to your latest pronuncio, since, based upon the Vatican’s track record,  invariably the truth turns out to be the opposite of what the Vatican proclaims.  So thanks for the clarification,  Pope Benedict XVI. .

Feminism is the big problem again, huh? A woman’s place in the family is to put out and shut up. No other action is necessary.

Funny how homosexual love and commitment between consenting adults is “an eclipse of God” but pedophilic predation by a priest on a child is denied and covered up, with the criminal being moved to another parish where his background is unknown and he can terrorize children again.

The vast riches of the Catholic Church could go a long way towards relieving poverty among its poorest members. I don’t see much of that happening.

There may be a God somewhere, but the Catholic Church eclipsed that notion by its actions a long time ago.
