U.S. Military: Gitmo Suicides Acts of ‘Warfare’Posted on Jun 11, 2006
The commander of the Guantanamo detention center said the three detainees who killed themselves were “committed” and had carried out “an act of asymmetric warfare waged against us.” Rights groups, however, said the men were driven by despair.

I don’t see how hanging yourself can be termed “warfare” whether it be assymetric or not. It’s a pretty weak thing to do no matter how you use it because all it does is allow the hangee a form of escape. You could do more damage by jumping off a tall building and trying to land on some poor sap on the ground--that way at least you could try to wage warfare on somebody besides yourself.

Suicide warfare is the hardest to prepare for because you expect the best out of everyone. I suppose it is the ultimate contribution anyone can make to a cause, but I guess the question is any cause worth that much?

OK so the Washington Post in an article dated June 9, 2006 writes about a new mental health self assesment tool that is available on-line as an effort of our Government/Military response to increased concerns regarding the mental health damage our occupation of Iarq and the related lengthy deployments and numerous redeployments is having on soldiers and their families. They also mention an increase in Army suicides and the assignment of “combat stress teams” to units serving in and returning from Iraq. Given the recent suicides in Guantanamo are we to assume in “newspeak” that our soldiers suicides are “an act of asymmetric warfare against the evil doers?”

Yes, there’s a real guerilla war waging at Guantanamo. First, we kick them in the stomach, then they retaliate by vomiting blood. Then we rub fake menstrual blood on them, and they retaliate by talking about it. Then we suspend them in stress positions, and they counter by passing out.
And just when it seems we are winning the battle at Guantanamo, three succeed in killing themselves. This means that all the interrogation we were going to perform on them will now be ineffective, because they are dead.
This act of terror will NOT go unpunished. Now, if only we could discipline the remaining prisoners in a way that won’t allow them to make us look like brutal fools…

It just gets preposterous-er and preposterous-er!
I think Bush & Co have been on the “spin” cycle so long, they honestly believe they now can offer up any bafflegab and the rest of the world will just accept it as God’s Given Truth.

Suicide has become a form of “Asymmetric warfare?” What a way to wage a war! If only the idea would catch on with Bush and his administration. They could all hang themselves, preferably with the entrails of Ann Colter and Rush Limbough, and then perhaps mankind would gain a brief reprieve from wars of agression for at least a few days.

In the twisted logic of our country, it’s “Warfare” because it’s “against our national interest.” It’s “against our national interest” because it may convince people that what we’re doing is wrong. It “may convince people that what we’re doing is wrong” because what we’re doing is.....wrong!
