Claim: Bush Doesn’t Give a S—t About Gay Marriage

Newsweek anonymously quotes a friend of the president’s as saying, “I think it was purely political. I don’t think he gives a s—t about” gay marriage.

Newsweek:

... Though Bush himself has publicly embraced the amendment, he never seemed to care enough to press the matter. One of his old friends told NEWSWEEK that same-sex marriage barely registers on the president’s moral radar. “I think it was purely political. I don’t think he gives a s—t about it. He never talks about this stuff,” said the friend, who requested anonymity to discuss his private conversations with Bush. White House aides, who also declined to be identified, insist that the president does care about banning gay marriage. They say Monday’s events with amendment supporters—Bush will also meet privately with a small group—have been in the works “for weeks” and aren’t just a sop to conservatives.

Whatever Bush’s motivation, his actions aren’t likely to quiet his critics. [Baptist official Richard] Land says he’s happy Bush is speaking out, but he’d like to see signs of real commitment to the issue. “We know what a full-court press looks like when we see one,” Land says. A White House official, who declined to be identified discussing strategy, says Bush has not made calls on the amendment because “nobody has asked us.”

I don’t know how reliable the stuff is on this website, but it’s certainly interesting.

http://www.waynemadsenreport.com/

“...Informed sources Inside the Beltway report that First Lady Laura Bush has established temporary residence in the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC as a result of a tiff with President Bush over an extramarital relationship involving her husband. Mr. Bush’s tryst is said to involve Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.”

Contrast that to Bush’s fatuous speech last week:

“Marriage is the most enduring and important human institution, honored and encouraged in all cultures and by every religious faith. Ages of experience have taught us that the commitment of a husband and a wife to love and to serve one another promotes the welfare of children and the stability of society.”

It seems that heterosexual marriage is the severe danger to marriage, as the divorce rate is approaching 50% in the U.S. I wonder if the same-sex divorce rate is anywhere near that high in jurisdictions where it is legal.

The anti-same sex marriage bill is bigotry, another way to shatter Americans into warring factions that will fight with each other, rather than banding together to get rid of the criminal administration.

And why is marriage the only way to exist in a society? It’s like trying to force everyone to wear size 6 shoes.

Yeah, I would also like to believe that President Cowboy doesn’t personally give a shit about Gay marriage. That’s what makes this ugly political posturing particularly despicable. The Republicans know that they’re at risk of losing control of Congress, so they have to use this last-ditch effort to “protect” marriage.

But to protect marriage from WHAT, exactly?
From divorce? No.
From infidelity? No.
From domestic violence or out-of-wedlock births? Of course not.

The sole purpose of the “Marriage Protection Amendment” is to protect marriage from ... get this ... COUPLES WHO WANT TO GET MARRIED! Imagine the logic.

Yet the promoters of this amendment have never been able to determine how allowing Gay couples to marry somehow threatens heterosexual marriage. Do they think that allowing Gay couples to marry will somehow dissuade Straight couples from making the same solemn commitment? Of course not! This is simply a way of saying to Gay couples, “YOU DON’T MATTER.”

This has nothing to do with the welfare of children, either, since couples do not have to marry to have children, nor is the desire to have children a prerequisite for a marriage license.

It’s true. The “Marriage Protection Amendment” is bald-faced bigotry at its ugliest, and the supporters of this measure might as well admit it rather than dancing around the issue.
