Iraqi Ambassador
From Americablog

The new Iraqi ambassador to the U.S., Samir al-Sumaidaie, meets with President Bush. Shortly after the meeting, al-Sumaidaie told CNN that he believed U.S. Marines killed his cousin in Haditha five months before the November massacre there.

The new Iraqi ambassador to America, fresh after meeting Bush in Washington for the first time, told CNN that U.S. Marines killed his cousin in cold blood in Haditha five months before the November massacre there. (h/t: The Dan Report)

This is huge: The ambassador of a newly minted “friendly” country went on national TV to accuse the U.S. of murdering a relative. Diplomatically speaking, it’s a violent smack across Bush’s face.

The Dan Report:

The new Iraqi ambassador to the United States has accused US Marines of “intentionally” killing a cousin in the Iraqi town of Haditha last year.

Speaking only hours after presenting his credentials to President George W Bush at the White House, Ambassador Samir al-Sumaidaie said his relative was shot dead five months before the killing of 24 civilians in the town in November that is now the subject of a controversial inquiry.

The ambassador told how Mohammed al-Sumaidaie, a 21-year-old engineering student, was killed after opening the door of the family house to US Marines on June 25.

The amazing thing is that the death of Mohammed al-Sumaidaie has occasioned so little publicity, complaint, or investigation. The guy was blatantly shot dead by a party of heavily armed Marines, in his own home, when the house (unusually for Iraq) did not contain a single usable weapon. He was the cousin of a senior Iraqi politician, a leader of a party friendly to the coalition. Yet even then, nothing was done.

So what happens when ordinary Iraqis get killed by coalition forces? Presumably less than nothing.
