Karl Rove with Robert Novak.

Muckraking journalist extraordinaire Murray Waas reports that investigators suspect that columnist Robert Novak called Karl Rove to concoct a cover story that would protect Rove in the Valerie Plame leak investigation.

National Journal:

On September 29, 2003, three days after it became known that the CIA had asked the Justice Department to investigate who leaked the name of covert CIA officer Valerie Plame, columnist Robert Novak telephoned White House senior adviser Karl Rove to assure Rove that he would protect him from being harmed by the investigation, according to people with firsthand knowledge of the federal grand jury testimony of both men.

In the early days of the CIA leak probe, then-Attorney General John Ashcroft was briefed on a crucial conversation between Robert Novak and Karl Rove.

Suspicious that Rove and Novak might have devised a cover story during that conversation to protect Rove, federal investigators briefed then-Attorney General John Ashcroft on the matter in the early stages of the investigation in fall 2003, according to officials with direct knowledge of those briefings.

Ashcroft oversaw the CIA-Plame leak probe for three months until he recused himself and allowed Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald to be named to take over the investigation on December 30, 2003. Ashcroft received routine briefings about the status of the investigation from October to December of that year.

It would seem that our justice system like are Constitution are worthless under this corporate administration [scum].  The failure and compromised of even our top officals should make it a mandatory in the future to never again allow corporate people to run for elected positions in the United States. [Ban robberbaron corporate scum]
Additionally that withholding information from federal authorities about acts of treason by anyone here must be punishable by life in prison and a badge of a felon for anyone who hesitates to turn in traitors, even parents and relatives. Corporate Newspaper and TV owned mouthpieces for corporate scum as Novak should also have their licenses revoked and thrown into jail, no extra 1st amendment rights condones treason, never did.
Corporate scum promote the destruction of our economy, they alone are responsible for the 12 million illegal workers which is turning our country into a third world haven for the unworthy.  Corporations are traitors to all democracies; the proof is obvious in their efforts at financing the downfall of western civilization for mere profits.  [20 pieces of silver].
For the stupid and lame minded rightwingers who use the word god to justify all this sodomizing and torture let me say this.  Even at 30 AD, the carpenter drew attention to the lack of morality of the rich when he said it was more likely a camel could crawl through the eye of a needle then a rich man to enter heaven. Corporate scum, rich people, irresponsible foreigners have no business in operations of our goverment.

Novak has always been a RNC lap dog; fortunately, over the past few years, he appears to have gone down hill, except when Fox news needs someone to denigrate the democrats. Hopefully, his downward fall will soon land him in the dust bin of history where he rightfully belongs!

Can anyone spell INCEST ??  Every single “investigation” of anyone in this administration is so tainted by incestuous connections and obvious coverups - from the “Supreme Court decision” at the very beginning onward.  When will “We The People” finally have enough?  Soon, I hope.

Cheney told Bush they’d give up Libby, to be pardoned in Jan, 2009,  and make Fitzgerald stop there.  He’s a Republican.  All the talk about him being a straight shooter is b.s.  He’ll run for high office & get a crapload of money to do it.  Ken Starr’s office leaked like a sieve because they had nothing on Clinton and wanted to smear him.  Fitzgerald’s office never leaks because they know Bush, Cheney & Rove are guilty and they want to protect them.

The press may as well give up on scandal reporting.  Whoever is in power from either party is going to be a corrupt, subservient mouthpiece for corporatists.  A decent person can’t get close to the White House.

According to one article i read, Novak along with Lawrence K(r)udlow were converted to Catholicism during the pedophile problem by a Washington priest.
