House Speaker Dennis Hastert

Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert is under investigation by the FBI in connection with a public corruption probe that has already ensnared several lawmakers and their aides. ABC News (which has the scoop) says investigators are looking into Hastert’s connections to Indian casinos.

ABC News:

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dennis Hastert, is under investigation by the FBI, which is seeking to determine his role in an ongoing public corruption probe into members of Congress, ABC News has learned from senior U.S. law enforcement officials.

Federal officials say the information implicating Hastert was developed from convicted lobbyists who are now cooperating with the government.

Part of the investigation involves a letter Hastert wrote three years ago, urging the Secretary of the Interior to block a casino on an Indian reservation that would have competed with other tribes.

Well I guess we all now know why Hastert was waiving the Constitution around today saying the FBI violated a Democratic congressman’s rights when it raided the Dem’s congressional office. For the fat bastard it’s always been about self-preservation. It certainly was never about the Constitution he swore to uphold, which is evident from his votes on the mis-named Patriot Act.  DeLay had it right when he made Hastert speaker - pay him and he will do anything you want. The only question I have is do you think an orange jump suit will made Denny’s fat ass look fat?

The Indians finally get their revenge.  It’s the first chance they’ve had to win since King Phillip’s War.

Hastert is clearly incompetent and now to hear that he may be corrupt as well makes him fully qualified to lead Congressional Republicans.
