Choice Point
gregpalast.com

ChoicePoint is perhaps the largest data mining company in America, and is, according to reporter Greg Palast, the first source that the U.S. government turns to when it wants to buy personal information on U.S. citizens that it can’t legally obtain itself.

When the government can’t legally dig up your medical records, call histories and voter registration information, it turns to the data mining company ChoicePoint—which has sucked up over $1 billion in federal contracts.

Do. Not. Miss. this article on how the frightening industry of data mining works.

Greg Palast:

... The leader in the field of what is called “data mining,” is a company called, “ChoicePoint, Inc,” which has sucked up over a billion dollars in national security contracts.

Worried about Dick Cheney listening in Sunday on your call to Mom? That ain’t nothing. You should be more concerned that they are linking this info to your medical records, your bill purchases and your entire personal profile including, not incidentally, your voting registration. Five years ago, I discovered that ChoicePoint had already gathered 16 billion data files on Americans—and I know they’ve expanded their ops at an explosive rate.

Choicepoint, aka DBT, is the company that provided the flawed felon list to Fla. Never let it be said that the bushes don’t take care of their own.

...Yeah, they’ve been around for awhile too. As I recall they got some very bad press awhile back, this before AT&T et al reached out and touched everyone and USA Today made sure you knew about it. Hey! Here’s an ad slogan they could use. “We’re Choice Point! Helping to bring you the Technology of Tomorrows Totalitarianism—-Today!” Jesus Christ..Big Brother with a Big Bottom line…and you’re paying for it…Their management must’ve studied in and based their business model-acumen on China’s—Hey? Why not? The Department of Defense contracts out private torturers don’t they?—And as you know contracts usually go to the lowest bidders…Good Goddamn…Makes me glad I’m a bum with more past than future…
