The gay hatred promoted by the GOP might be inaudible to Cheney’s daughter but even if she could hear it, would she listen? Cheney’s daughter’s extreme privilege is coupled with the extreme political position of her GOP parents. Therefore, she’s extremely hard of hearing. She did hear Kerry and she did listen and she did indignantly respond. Yet her undignified silence on the active and energetic intolerance mongering of the GOP is really the son of a bitch.

To anyone with some sensitivity it should be obvious the Mary has inherited her fathers meanness and “heartlessness”.

Perhaps as the offspring ( I say offspring rather the daughter because I am not sure that she isn’t in a male role) of a bitch she is uniquely qualified to make the the statement

Mary Cheney has a unique myopia that afflicts only very, very well-to-do conservative homosexuals: She views her survival as a lesbian through a Darwinian lens. Because of her wealth and privilege, she has survived magnificently despite BushCo’s overt hostility to tax-paying, law-abiding, loving gay couples. Therefore, she assumes that everyone can.
Well, no. Not everyone gets cut the kind of slack she gets cut by the mean and bigoted AmeriKorps that we call the GOP. And not everyone has her wealth, connections, power, and discrimination buffers. Most of us aren’t Cheney’s daughter.
Mary’s extreme privilege is the reason that she can trivialize the GOP’s extreme assault on gay Americans. It must not be a big deal because it hasn’t scarred her, right? Thus the loud scream of hatred emanating from the GOP is inaudible to her. Mommy and Daddy make sure it’s inaudible to her.
Paradoxically, when someone in the pro-diversity camp actually calls her a “lesbian” out loud—sans judgment—she says them’s fightin’ words. Very strange.
Kerry made an observation about a very public phenomenon. After all, Mary was being paid at the time something like $250K to be her father’s token queer aide. She complains that he calls her a lesbian? I really don’t see how it’s possible to be so brazen. It wouldn’t be, without her extreme privilege.
