Conservatives Drive Down Bush’s Poll Numbers

A staggering 45% of the president’s supposed base disapproves of his performance. And it gets worse for the president….

AP:

Angry conservatives are driving the approval ratings of President Bush and the GOP-led Congress to dismal new lows, according to an AP-Ipsos poll that underscores why Republicans fear an Election Day massacre.

Six months out, the intensity of opposition to Bush and Congress has risen sharply, along with the percentage of Americans who believe the nation is on the wrong track.

The AP-Ipsos poll also suggests that Democratic voters are far more motivated than Republicans. Elections in the middle of a president’s term traditionally favor the party whose core supporters are the most energized.

OIL

First it was a lie to get us into a war; than a lie about how well the war is going; than out-of control deficit spending; than no border control, than leaking classified material, than illegal wire tapping and now outlandish gas prices. My god – what is next? My immediate concern is that gas is out of control and why—because the Republican Majority would rather worry about what language the “national anthem should be sung in”, “appealing the estate tax”, and banning gay marriage than breaking up the oil monopoly. This Government has sold out the American people to the oil cartel and now the American people have to pay for it through blatant and overt extortion at the gas pumps. And please do not tell me the oil industry is not monopolized when all the oil companies raise their gas prices at the same time. And please, no more pseudo-hearings on price gouging, just some choices too buying gas from the corrupt oil industry—like electric cars or ethanol.
