Pink’s Plea to Bush

The pop star Pink stretches a bit from her standard fare with this protest song about Bush—which includes the lyrics, “How can you say no child left behind? We’re not dumb and we’re not blind…. What kind of father would take his own daughter’s rights away? What kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?”

SOMEONE needs to stand up for THIS country!Even if your not politically savvy,it doesn’t take a genious to figure out that our own nation is slowly crumbling. With all due respect to our leaders, they seem more interested in rebuilding everyone elses, and think about it,who do you think is paying for it all???Oil companies making a profit while the rest of us suffer just to get to work when gas is three dollars+ a gallon, millions without healthcare, thousands still living in FEMA trailors from Katrina, not to mention the billions spent on this war.Does the rest of the world feel that American’s should save them?It is one thing to be an ally but a superhero for all?Once again with much respect to our leaders,if you want to help the innocent Iraqi people opposed to terrism, teach them to fight for their country and religous beliefs and their families so that their children can live in peace.Eventually our troops are going to have to come home because we cannot stay there forever.

I was deeply touched and impressed with this piece.  This lady is a true artist with a very big heart.

I’m almost 48 yrs old, and I am definitely not up to date in the current music scene…

That said, I am impressed with Pink on this one. Brought tears to my eyes, it did.

Shag, I agree with you. It’s as good as any 60’s protest song I’ve heard.

These pop bands/stars release one political song and every loves them.  If you want anti-war, anti-bush music find the bands that have all political songs.  Anti-Flag for one…  “With you or against you?  Than I am against you because you’re a… TURNCOAT!  KILLER!  LIAR!  THIEF!  Criminal with protection of the law.”

It’s not easy to remember the shock and disbelief of a child gaining a first cognizance of some of the horrors of the adult world. Young people Pink’s age are not far removed from this and are still capable of the deep sorrow that perhaps all of us pass through on the way to the sophisticated calm-heartedness that we come to attain in the face of the outrageous injustices that exist in our world. Listening to Pink’s song we may glimpse again the heart of youth.

OK….Time for me to eat a little crow. And just to be clear WoodChuck tends to be a little hard headed and really dosen’t like crow…. But I do beleive I may have been wrong, for a man who has avoided newer music for some time with an even stronger avoidance of the “pop scene” I give Pink a nod of respect.  Now if she can find a way to expand that song from that room and to the youth perhaps that could be there anthem tht they can march to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. with…
I still don’t know how much I like her, but she has opened my eyes and earned a well deserved A+++...

Memo to Chimpy and handlers: We are all Pinkos now, and we know where you live.  Footsteps?  Nah. Just the rustling of articles of impeachment.

It’s a fantastic song. It’s as good as any anti-Vietnam song from the 60s, and there were some excellent ones.

I don’t normally pay attention to pop stars, but after catching Pink’s video for her hilarious song “Stupid Girls,” and hearing this song, I actually find myself respecting her somewhat.
