In dozens of cities across the country, from New York City to San Diego, from Atlanta to Phoenix, protesters took to the streets in support of legislation that would help some 11 million undocumented workers settle permanently in the United States.

Thousands of Protesters Rally for Immigrant Rights

By Bill Brubaker

Tens of thousands of protesters, many chanting “USA” and ” S, se puede,” rallied today in Washington for immigrant rights in a boisterous demonstration that Latino organizers hope will lead to a permanent movement.

The rally on the Mall—a venue that was the stage for other social movements, such as civil rights for African Americans in the 1960s and opposition of the Vietnam War in the 1970s—comes as Congress is bitterly divided over how to deal with the nation’s 11 million illegal immigrants. Organizers said they were confident today’s event will boost the political capital of the nation’s largest minority group.

The Mall was crowded with thousands of people from 7th Street to 12th streets N.W. and hundreds more gathered near the Washington Monument on 14th Street. Late this afternoon, as protesters continued to arrive at La Marcha , as some volunteers called the rally, it was clear the rush-hour commute would be slowed out of the District.

Of all the demonstrators how many are legal immigrants? If they are legal there is no point for them to protest or demonstrate for political equality.
From a Headline of the WP “Hundreds of thousands of people, demanding U.S. citizenship for illegal immigrants, took to the streets in dozens of cities in some of the most widespread demonstrations since the mass protests began around the country two weeks ago.”

Who are the 100’s of thousands of people making these demands, are they relatives of the 12 million illegals who have been here in the USA for up wards of 12 years and as the media purports speak no english?

Why must we learn to speak and write in Spanish aren’t they in USA, isn’t our national language English?

Yes, I agree America (USA) was built by immigrants but, they were LEGAL immigrants, I’ve nothing against legal and naturalized immigrants. I do not understand how the media and put a positive spin on someone saying I’m american in Spanish and I have rights as one.

#1 If your USA American you can speak English because you have gone to school to learn our history, our coulture, our language, and our rights, then you take the naturalization exam to become an “American”.

I feel that we are taking on the overflow of humanity from nations that do not want to improve social standards for their citizens. We have a large population of underemployed black men, and yet the Democratic party is turning its back on them with this amnesty of 11 to 20 million illegal aliens. The responsiblity of Congress should be to its citizens first. I fail to see how an enlarged supply of naturalized citizens, who had broken the law is going to help the poor of this country. Why don’t we put teeth into our enforcement efforts? Employers should be doing hard time for their flagrant disregard for the law. We can deport or persuade these illegal aliens to go back where they came from, if we have strong interior and border enforcement. We should not be rewarding criminals with amnesty.

As usual our elected ass licking pollitishions will say anything for a vote.I think all the illeagals and their dependets who have obviously broken and or destorted the united states laws should be permenently sent back to thier home lands and not to worry for the vacume they leave in the low wage slave force here would be imeadeatly filled with new wet backs who deserve a chance to make a few bucks to send home to.Theres no shortage of staveing and pore people, lets just be fare, entrenched illegels are not beture then new ones.
