Bush Meeting With Reporters Off the RecordPosted on Mar 29, 2006But the N.Y. Times refuses the meetings, which Bush is holding at the lowest ebb of his presidency. How this fits in with Bush’s “Blame the Media on Iraq” policy is something we’ll have to puzzle over.

These off the record meetings would certainly seem to be a waste of time. I agree with the New York Times decision.
However, even when Bush speeks on the record to the media, or anywhere for that matter, his staff always needs to follow-up and try to spin what he “really did mean was, etc., etc”.
If he doesn’t read it, he can’t think it!
Good example. When Bush said, “Bring the troops home will to be for future Presidents"(sic), that was really Bush’s non-mind speaking.
I really like it when Helen Thomas asks Bush questions. My kind of media coverage!

How does this fit with the whole “planting favorable stories” angle, is what I want to know.
