From ThinkProgress.com

President Bush gives his now-infamous “Mission Accomplished” Iraq war victory speech aboard a U.S. aircraft carrier, March 1, 2003.

The blog ThinkProgress has put together a stellar walk-through of the major events of the conflict.

ThinkProgress:

Today marks the three-year anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. ThinkProgress has created a timeline that tells the story of the Iraq war over the past 36 months.

Prior to the war, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld claimed the Iraq war might last “five days or five weeks or five months, but it certainly isn’t going to last any longer than that.” But as the war has intensified and escalated into a “long, hard slog,” some of the critical details have faded from our memories.

The timeline catalogues the key events, quotes and pictures of the war. Check it out and spread the word. And make sure to tell us what we missed in the comments section.

The Bush administration will go down in history as the most foolish, incompetent, arrogant and deceitful administration in the history of the United States of America. George Bush opened the legendary Pandora’s box with his stupid, immoral and unlawful invasion of Iraq. Instead of containing Saddam and cripling his ability to harm his own people and possibly others - a strategy endorsed by Canada and which could have been easily and creatively imposed on Iraq, Bush insisted on following his own irresponsible and ignorant whims and play the bully against a third class military power. Now we see the price of Bush’s insanity. Because of Bush and his poodle, Tony Blair, we now have a much more insecure world, American and other soldiers are dying senselessly every day, billions of dollars are going to waste instead of helping alleviate poverty, terrorists and Al Quaida have been given a haven in Iraq, the world has become destabilized, the U.N. undermined and misery spread everywhere It’s amazing what one rascal,in high office, surrounded by a gang of conniving, deceitful and hawkish scoundrals can do to ruin the world. Bush should be indicted by the International Court at The Hague. He is a menace to humanity.
