Vermont Towns Endorse Move to Impeach BushPosted on Mar 8, 2006AP: NEWFANE, Vt. - In five Vermont communities, a centuries-old tradition of residents gathering in town halls to conduct local business became a vehicle to send a message to Washington: Impeach the president. An impeachment article, approved by a paper ballot 121-29 in Newfane Tuesday, calls on Vermont’s lone member of the U.S. House, independent Rep. Bernie Sanders, to file articles of impeachment against President Bush, alleging he misled the nation into the Iraq war and engaged in illegal domestic spying. *Someone* has to have the courage to do this, since our politicians in Washington seem incapable to taking a stand on anything without parsing it’s PR value to the nth power. We can move to impeach Clinton for parsing his diddlings, but not Bush/Cheney for actively and persistently ‘manipulating’ something far worse. It’s past time for talkin’ about a revolution…

Sorry, my error. Statement was made by Jim Barnett, chairman of the Vermont Republican party. Naturally he would make that statement. But I will not apologize to Herr Goebbels.

Interesting, and disturbing, comment by one Newfane resident, paraphrased, we should not be impeaching the president just because we disagree with him. Goebbels would rub his hands in glee at that statement.
