Anti-American Cleric Rising as Iraqi KingmakerPosted on Feb 16, 2006
New York Times: BAGHDAD, Iraq, Feb. 15—Late Saturday night, on the eve of a crucial vote to choose Iraq’s next prime minister, a senior Iraqi politician’s cellphone rang. A supporter of the Shiite cleric Moktada al-Sadr was on the line with a threat. “He said that there’s going to be a civil war among the Shia” if Mr. Sadr’s preferred candidate was not confirmed, the politician said. Two things:
1. Why does the link to the “Full Story” take me only to an AD for the NY Times?
2. What else do you expect from self-styled “clerics” like this guy? He, and, I guess, his followers, have all the maturity of a young child… “I WANT WHAT I WANT WHEN I WANT IT”... or I’ll start a war, or blow you up, have a tantrum or some other profoundly STUPID reaction.
Watching this whole Iraqui/Muslim dust up is like looking in on a primary schoolyard during recess. Where are the leaders with MATURITY and INTELLIGENCE… on EITHER SIDE?
