Cheney’s Response Becoming a Liability

Washington Post: Vice President Cheney’s slow and unapologetic public response to the accidental shooting of a 78-year-old Texas lawyer is turning the quail-hunting mishap into a political liability for the Bush administration and is prompting senior White House officials to press Cheney to publicly address the issue as early as today, several prominent Republicans said yesterday.

The Republicans said Cheney should have immediately disclosed the shooting Saturday night to avoid even the suggestion of a coverup and should have offered a public apology for his role in accidentally shooting Harry Whittington, a GOP lawyer from Austin. Whittington was hospitalized Saturday night in Corpus Christi, Tex., and was moved back into the intensive-care unit after suffering an abnormal heart rhythm yesterday morning.

Truthdig says: Republicans are right to be critical. For an administration that orchestrated Bush’s aircraft carrier photo-op, this episode seems particularly bush league.

About Those Quails–Funny Story
February 15th, 2006

Funny story about quails. The ancient Hebrews regarded the Old World bird as slow in flight because of its weight, which goes a long way in explaining how the wind could push hundreds of quails out of the sky to cause a massive pile-up on the ground three feet high during the wilderness years. While the bird’s easy pickings impress upon each new age of bird-brained churchgoers the providential might of their god, its bottom-heaviness is not helping at all the vice president. Apparently he is at a loss to explain why he couldn’t bag a lumbering quail, shooting instead an un”whitting” hunter. This must be why he tried to covey-up yet another example of misdirected fire, which has come to be known as White House stamp and trade.

There is lots more juicy stuff to be found in this long delay: now rumors of drinking and women being present, a born again physician downplaying (until the heart attack) the injuries, the specifics of the actual shooting, etc.  The truth will out and it will be stranger than any fiction.  Ultimately in the universe, Justice, over the long run, prevails. Comeuppance is on the way. Read the Magnificat in the gospel of Luke 1: 46 ff.

It amazes me how people are all upset with the hunting accident and wasting time and ink on it rather then asking what did Scooter Libby mean when he said his superiors(Cheney being immediate one) authorized his leaking confidential info.
That is the story that should concern everyone.

It’s undoutedly taking some time to get Cheney rehearsed in holding his head up straight, looking directly in the camera and not talking out of the side of his mouth.  These are all indications that he’s lying and after a lifetime of these traits he’s not going to change overnight.

It is way past time for Americans to stand up and take to the streets in protest of this dirt bag administartion.  No quarter should be given until Bush and Cheney are forced to resign.

Rock On !!

So far not one word has been said about the Vice-President standing around a bunch of “friends” with shotguns, even the light weight kind that shoot birdshot. We spend millions of dollars protecting the Veep and his idiot savant boss from harm but allow the one of them to stand around folks carrying loaded firearms. Since this whole incident has been described as an accident, it just as easily could have been the other way around when the experienced hunter such as Cheney is suppose to be mindlessly step into the line of fire just as Whittington, also described in the press reports as an experienced hunter, was raising his shotgun to shot birds and instead blasted away into Dickie Boy. I suspect the closest Secret Service agent to Cheney would have probably not had time to stand in harms way and taken the pellets from Whittington as he has supposedly been trained to do, but instead would have done what any right minded gun toting cop would have done and shot down Whittington on the spot. My point of course is why is the press being silent on this most serouis matter of Executive Protection.

Deadeye Dick’s shooting accident was simply a case of mistaken identity.  Cheney actually intended to shoot Scooter Libby.
