C-SPAN via ThinkProgress

White House spokesman Scott McClellan “responds” to questions about Bush’s connections with indicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff Feb. 9.

ThinkProgress: During today’s press briefing, Scott McClellan was asked to respond to claims made by Jack Abramoff in emails published yesterday on ThinkProgress.

Reporter Victoria Jones asked whether President Bush was sticking by his assertion that he does not remember meeting Jack Abramoff in light of the Abramoff emails, which discuss “almost a dozen” meetings with the President.

McClellan dodged the question, falsely claiming that Bush had already addressed the issue, but did not dispute the validity of Abramoff’s emails. Watch it: video and transcript

Truthdig says: Bush’s spokesman shows a remarkable knack for his ability to pounce on new information when it may hurt Democrats, and his utter inability to process new information when it may be damaging to the president.

The biggest crime is that no responsible Republicans in the House or Senate are clamoring for independent investigations into the Abramoff scandal.  Even though Abramoff’s money seems to have reached the highest offices in the nation, we are left feeling as if no one is left to represent us.

This Administration reeks with corruption, deceit, conflict of interests, and shameful lies. What a gang of flim-flam artists to have unleashed upon the people of our country, (and its Treasury)! Why worry about Terrorists when our own Representatives are doing such a terrific job of destroying all that they touch?

Just because the supposed leader of the free world has the intellect of a creosote “bush”, that does not mean that the rest us do. With each new revelation about what goes on in our government, the questions just get harder to answer—so they don’t.
