Time: As details poured out about the illegal and unseemly activities of Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff, White House officials sought to portray the scandal as a Capitol Hill affair with little relevance to them. Peppered for days with questions about Abramoff’s visits to the White House, press secretary Scott McClellan said the now disgraced lobbyist had attended two huge holiday receptions and a few “staff-level meetings” that were not worth describing further. “The President does not know him, nor does the President recall ever meeting him,” McClellan said. | story

New and Improved Comments

We are launching a major overhaul of our comments section.

In addition to more robust spam filtering and moderation, new features include the ability to rate other comments, sort how they are displayed and respond directly via e-mail or in a thread.

Unfortunately, commenters will lose their existing Truthdig identities. It's a pain, we know, but on the plus side you will now be able to log in with a plethora of options, including Google, Twitter, Facebook and Disqus accounts.

Before launching this system we spent months in discussion with our top commenters. We listened to the feedback and we hope you like what we've come up with.

Please direct any problems or concerns to us via our contact page.

Okay, well, geeh… So if no one is truly interested in what Bush does, i.e. a “majority of people in the USA support Bush’s agenda”, then why support such incredible blindness, stupidity, hypocrisy, and gullability???

I don’t see a majority at all.  As of August 2005, before Katrina, Bush only had 4 states that had a support base of more than 50%.  Now, there are NONE in that league.  His popularity is below 40%.  And the White House is bracing for impeachment hearings in February.

Becareful - the Dems have finally grown a set.  It takes bravery to finally speak out against what is so incredibly wrong.

Don’t support stupidity.  Fight it instead.

It does not matter what evidence there is against Bush. There is a major portion of people in the USA that are in agreement with Bush’s agenda, and they will back Bush no matter what he does. It is like rooting for the hometown sports team. It does not matter how dirty they play, as long as they win.

That same president knew nothing about the CIA leak and would fire anyone in his administration that was involved.
Same old politics, deny until your caught and then act totaly surprised.
