Rick Warren
From paultastic.com

Alternet has compiled a cheeky list of the most terrifying people in the U.S.A. Rick “Purpose-Driven Life” Warren, right, makes the list for his scary ability to recruit followers into his anti-gay-marriage, anti-stem-cell, anti-euthanasia crusade.

Alternet:

The Thirteen Worst People in America:

Scariest Presidential Candidate: Sam Brownback / Senator (R-Kansas)

by Mary Reinholz

Once a moderate in the Bob Dole mold, Sen. Sam Brownback has morphed into a zealous man of God intent on protecting millions of fetuses from what he calls the yearly “holocaust” of abortion. Brownback actually considers fetuses to be full-blown American citizens.

Just another religious nut stalking the corridors of power? Well, yes, but this ambitious pol is the favored 2008 presidential candidate of the radical right. Brownback seems hell-bent on establishing not just faith-based initiatives, but “faith in politics”—i.e., an authoritarian Christian theocracy.

in studying the rise of white supremacist occult groups in the central valley of california ( as in ” Stockton Oklahoma ” )in the 80’s and 90’s-in the prisons, crank labs and others left with idle hands when corporate farming left these folks with nothing to do ( and big time amphetamine habits from the fruit picking and cannery days )-I find these people listed here to be the voice of that psychotic, bottom feeding tweak-sour movement. What’s the matter with Kansas ? When you’re wired with nothing to do, and no education, you’ll believe god is the manifest destiny guy who’s gonna bring the full cupboards of the 60’s and 70’s back without the imagined competition from minorities and others not worthy of this nordic deities blessings.

If “Brownback considers fetuses to be full-blown American citizens” I ask Why stop there?

A fetus is nothing more than the growth of cells, many still undifferentiated, from the meeting of a sperm and egg. So why not pronounce both sperm and eggs as citizens as well?

Hell, let’s go whole hog! Sperm is made by testicles and eggs by ovaries… let’s make “full-blown citizens” of all testicles and ovaries! Can’t you just see the photo that would go with the headline “Sperm Citizen of the Year!”

I expect to read and hear such silliness in the banter in a schoolyard or kindergarten class. But when it comes from our adult LEADERS and ROLE MODELS, the profound stupidity of it appalls me.

My twisted sense of humor generates the hope that Brownback gets the nomination… hell, let’s elect him President. If we’re going to have mass insanity, LET’S GO ALL THE WAY! We’ll destroy our country and ourselves, of course, but isn’t that what civilizations have done all throughout recorded history?

So… LET’S GET ON WITH IT! BROWNBACK FOR PRESIDENT!

Whenever I think of Brownback, I’m reminded of John Brown. Remember him, of the Union Civil War song about “John Brown’s body lies a-moulderin’ in the grave”? He led a raid on the arsenal at Harper’s Ferry, Virginia in an attempt to start a slave rebellion. That Brown is regarded as a hero by some, but he was also a bloody-minded religious zealot who was eager to kill those who didn’t share his apocalyptic views. As I was saying, when I think of Sam Brownback…
