Skilling Gets 24 YearsPosted on Oct 23, 2006
Still maintaining his innocence, former Enron CEO Jeffrey Skilling was sentenced Monday to 24 years for his role in the collapse of the energy giant. Skilling’s remaining assets will be liquidated, with about $45 million going to a victims’ fund.

At least we managed to get one miscreant behind bars (for the time being, anyway, until he’s pardoned by Bush as he very likely will be). It’s still a pity that Lay got away—especially since it appears that his widow(?) and his family will be allowed to use his ill-gotten gains to finance their cushy lifestyle. Shameful…

They’re kidding, aren’t they?
Butner, NC? Surely they didn’t put a maximum security prison in a city with that name. It must be a joke.
I’m not laying any bets on him ever seeing a day in that joint. How about a massive mental meltdown which will have him housed in a cushy treatment facility until he can be spirited out of the country with as much of his money as he can grab and access to all the funds he’s got squirreled away in the Caymans, or perhaps Paraguay. It’s the new destination of choice for the rich criminal.

This is a country that advocates keeping the working people poor while allowing CEO’s to steal from their employees and stock holders. Skilling is taking the fall for a lot of crooks who ripped off the people who invested and worked for Enron. A lot of people deserve prison for this.
The main reason I am against the death penalty is that one of the crimes that should require a death sentence is what was done at Enron. Corruption in business and government are destroying the country. Thousands of people had their lives ruined because of these crooks and when it comes down to it, only one gets any time at all. I predict he will not spend that much time behind bars. He will serve 4 to 6 and be released.
One of these days the people will realize that their money isn’t safe anywhere. They will look around and come to the conclusion that all of their institutions are corrupt. That is when this house of cards falls. The whole system is bullshit.

Skilling obviously lacked basic PR skills--not to mention accounting and biz smarts when all was said and done/lost. Today he fumbled the opportunity to express remorse for the calaminous ruin he was undeniably partly responsible for, and instead whined that HIS life has been so tough since ENRON’s house of cards collapsed. Oh, the pain! His is a classic case of pathological projection: He’s not guilty of anything--but all of those meanies out there who’ve been persecuting him are guilty of making him feel really bad and sending him to jail. The guy is so deranged/deluded he can’t even admit to even being a simple fool. It would help the public forget/forgive his guilt at hearing it from him. (Are his lawyers just as stupid? Or is Skilling uncoachable?)

These godless cowards go into their sentencings with that scuzzy little baby faced, lip quivering “pitty me” look on their faces-All the while believing in their rotten little cold hearts that they are getting an unfair judgement..Disgusting filthy pigs-I wonder how sad these devils were when those great people that were about to retire, saw everything they SLAVED for all their lives in good faith...GONE..I bet those unhuman swines did not even register a modicum of sadness. Those types of dogs are sure that they are chosen by god to rein over the “Workers"- By devine right..Rot in hell KEN,oh yea,...Jeffy, You SOB, you will join him with any luck, after all 24 years are slowly served.

All crooked people responsible for the financial demise of average joes and janes ought to be prosecuted and punished without exception. The exceptions are financial institutions which structured the M&A;as in the case of Worldcom, and funded Enron’s derivative trading are untouched.
Report thisIt’s puzzling that Wall Street pocked immense sum and are left unpunished.

If it had been anyone but a Bush friend, he would have been hauled off to jail immediately, not sent home to his luxury mansion or condo. I am increasing concerned about the growing gap between the two Americas, between the haves and have-nots.
Report thisI never thought I would live to see a class war here in America, but that is what is evolving. Skilling ought to go to prison like any other convicted felon and appeal from behind bars like the rest of them.

24 years 4 months? Not enough time for this disgusting excuse for a human being. I can’t even imagine being on the edge of retirement and having my retirement plan wiped clean because of Skilling, Lay and Fasteau...among others. It must have been devestating for those employees. Sorry, but I think Skilling is more a threat to society than drug dealers and he should be treated like the scum of the Earth that he is...I hope Ken Lay is roasting in his afterlife.

If the CEO was “innocent” then the 24 years should be for incompetence.
But only a pollyanna nincompoop would believe Skillings didn’t know what was going on and that he wasn’t completely complicit in perpetrating the fraud.
This man should never be free from surveillance again. What he and ANYONE ELSE IN ENRON WHO KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING did is a life-in-prison felony in my opinion and they all should be required to repay all but a subsistence amount of their future incomes until every cent they stole is accounted for… and I don’t give a damn if that means until they’re all dead and buried (and even then their life insurance should be confiscated for the public good.)
What a bunch of two-faced, lying thieves. I hope Skillings winds up spending the rest of his nights face down in a pillow under some 300-lb horny “bubba.”

Remember Kennedy’s Autopsy was falsified. And certain official branches are more than capable of faking autopsies. Who can we trust? An administration/political party that had received millions from Lay and who could have easily paid off the “coroner” and others necessary to buy a free ticket elsewhere with his money (as the slate has been wiped clean, don’t forget: Lay has been innocented and his money stays with him and his family !)

UNLESS HE CAN CONVINCE THEM HE IS DEAD AND BURIED. THEN HIS ASSETS WILL BE GIVEN BACK TO HIS GRIEVING WIDOW AND THE ENRON EMPLOYEES CAN POUND SAND. WERE ANY OF THE EMPLOYEES AT THE LAY FUNERAL? DID THEY MAKE SURE THERE WAS A REAL CORPSE AND IT WAS KEN LAY? I UNDERSTAND THE MAFIA WOULD PUT A SWORD THRU THE CORPSE JUST TO MAKE SURE. SEEMS FITTING.
