Mohamed El Baradei cautioned on Monday that as many as 30 nations could rapidly develop nuclear weapons.  The International Atomic Energy Agency chief warned that countries are “hedging their bets” by developing peaceful nuclear programs that could provide the necessary technology and material for weaponization.

Los Angeles Times:

The warning came amid heightened fears that North Korea’s nuclear test explosion and Iran’s defiance of a U.N. Security Council demand that it suspend uranium enrichment could spark a new arms race, particularly among Asian and Middle Eastern states.

El Baradei did not single out any country but was clearly alluding to Iran and other nations that are working to develop uranium enrichment capability, such as Brazil.

Other countries, including Australia, Argentina and South Africa, have recently announced that they are considering developing enrichment programs to be able to sell fuel to states that want to generate electricity with nuclear reactors.

Canada, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Switzerland, Taiwan, Spain, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Lithuania are among nations that either have the means to produce weapons-grade uranium if they choose, could quickly assemble such technology, or could use plutonium waste for weaponization. All are committed to relying on conventional weaponry, and there is no suggestion they want to use their programs for arms.

I Know soldiers who have come back from Iraq and told on themselves. Some, maybe not all are stirring up the hatred. One guy said that he was walking by some kids playing marbles and threw a humane eye into the mix.

I imagine the hastily cobbled together visit to the far east by the unlovely Condoleezza was less to tell Japan, who may be considering nuclear weapons development, that the “special realtionship” it has with the U.S. includes its defense and more that the U.S. has nuclear weapons and knows how to use them. Who would know it better than Japan?

I’ll try to be as simple as possible. The United States and all the west for that matter is pushing countries like Russia and China into a corner for the purpose of a one world government; Of that I have no doubt. The problem is they’re not going without a fight; World War 3.

Orwell should have named his book “2006” instead of “1984” (which I first read in 1969).

Now Chertoff can look here, see what we say and claim we are a threat, solely because SO many of us detest George Bush as the incompetent Mad King George!

Web could be terror training camp: Chertoff
Tue Oct 17
BOSTON (Reuters) - Disaffected people living in the United States may develop radical ideologies and potentially violent skills over the Internet and that could present the next major U.S. security threat, U.S.      Homeland Security Secretary     Michael Chertoff said on Monday.

“We now have a capability of someone to radicalize themselves over the Internet,” Chertoff said on the sidelines of a meeting of International Association of the Chiefs of Police.

“They can train themselves over the Internet. They never have to necessarily go to the training camp or speak with anybody else and that diffusion of a combination of hatred and technical skills in things like bomb-making is a dangerous combination,” Chertoff said. “Those are the kind of terrorists that we may not be able to detect with spies and satellites.”

Chertoff pointed to the July 7, 2005 attacks on London’s transit system, which killed 56 people, as an example a home-grown threat.

To help gather intelligence on possible home-grown attackers, Chertoff said Homeland Security would deploy 20 field agents this fiscal year into “intelligence fusion centers,” where they would work with local police agencies.

By the end of the next fiscal year, he said the department aims to up that to 35 staffers.

We better get of the war lovers in a hurry or we will be attacking left and right and even us grandmas will have to be sent to one of the fronts. Problem, who is going to raise the next generation of cannon fodder and bury the dead?
