For the past three and a half years, U.S. government agents have been torturing alleged “dirty bomber” Jose Padilla via methods that Congress just enshrined in law. If you have a strong stomach, you can read the never-before-surfaced details of his captivity here.
via Glen Greenwald:
Mr. Padilla’s dehumanization at the hands of his captors also took more sinister forms. Mr. Padilla was often put in stress positions for hours at a time. He would be shackled and manacled, with a belly chain, for hours in his cell. Noxious fumes would be introduced to his room causing his eyes and nose to run. The temperature of his cell would be manipulated, making his cell extremely cold for long stretches of time. Mr. Padilla was denied even the smallest, and most personal shreds of human dignity by being deprived of showering for weeks at a time, yet having to endure forced grooming at the whim of his captors.
A substantial quantum of torture endured by Mr. Padilla came at the hands of his interrogators. In an effort to disorient Mr. Padilla, his captors would deceive him about his location and who his interrogators actually were. Mr. Padilla was threatened with being forcibly removed from the United States to another country, including U.S. Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where he was threatened his fate would be even worse than in the Naval Brig.
He was threatened with being cut with a knife and having alcohol poured on the wounds. He was also threatened with imminent execution. He was hooded and forced to stand in stress positions for long durations of time. He was forced to endure exceedingly long interrogation sessions, without adequate sleep, wherein he would be confronted with false information, scenarios, and documents to further disorient him. Often he had to endure multiple interrogators who would scream, shake, and otherwise assault Mr. Padilla.
Additionally, Mr. Padilla was given drugs against his will, believed to be some form of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) or phencyclidine (PCP), to act as a sort of truth serum during his interrogations.

I’ve been saying this ever since I first heard about the Jose Padilla case a couple of years ago—whatever the Bush administration has done to him, particularly given the fact that he’s only accused of supposedly having *planned* a terrorist act, they are conceivably capable of doing to any other American citizen. To make matters worse, the recent passage through Congress of the Military Commissions Act (which some people believe was intentionally designed as an end-run around the Supreme Court decision in 2004 regarding Padilla’s case stating that Padilla must be charged or set free since he was not arrested on a field of combat or anywhere close to one) only makes this even more possible. The first fact by itself *should* be enough to scare the fertilizer out of most Americans, yet it hasn’t. In fact, by and large, the American people seem to have bought into the fallacy that “the only people who shold be worried are those who have done something wrong” suggesting that anyone who the government detains surely *must* be guilty (so much for presumption of innocence)—a fallacy which Martin Niemoller ("First they came for the Jews...") could put paid to.
Another thing which disturbs me about this case is that according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, at least one non-Islamic domestic terror plot has been uncovered post-911—yet these have gone virtually unreported in the national media. The SPLC even obtained the draft of a DHS document which made no mention of the risk from potentially violent right-wing terror groups within the US such as white supremacists but only mentioned potentially violent left-wing groups such as animal rights organizations. According to an article in USA Toay which details some of the cases uncovered by the SPLC (http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2004-11-14-domest ic-terrorism_x.htm), many of the people who were arrested as a result WERE CHARGED AND TRIED. What does it suggest when American citizens without any ties to Islam are charged and tried for having plotted to commit terrorist acts within the US while another American citizen likewise suspected of plotting terror but who does have ties to Islam is labeled an enemy combatant and is kept in prison for years without charge and without trial in violation of his Constitutional rights? What it suggests, quite frankly, is a double standard—as well as the possibility that in the eyes of the Bush administration, the *real* source of Padilla’s alleged crime is not plotting an act of terror but being a Muslim.

wants to torture those vulnerable as if they were the younger siblings he tortured, as if they were the small brown people striving for a better life that vampires like negroponte torture.
so he tortures his younger baby boom brethren.
and the PCP is a big clue-boy george had some of the CIA version of that shit back when he was awol, picking up that fake football coach patois at Klan meetings. PCP shuts off the right and left brain hemispheres, and leaves you running on the lizard brain. Lots of boomers ruined their lives by doing this just once, you see them every day on city streets. i can name you a few. but boy george is the richest punk in the world, and he was born so psychotic, he LIKES what PCP did for him.

The Gestapo isn’t coming to the United States of America. It is already here. I’d ask how did we come to this, but I already know. It was the fervent desire of the Radical Right and religious Right to institute a fascist.
It is time to impeach Mad King George, remove him from office and charge him at The Hague as a war criminal and for crimes against Humanity.
Before the Constitution is COMPLETELY burned as kindling we need to STOP Mad King George and his band of Merrie Fascists and the BEST way to do that is VOTE DEMOCRATIC on November 7!
