14th Time’s the CharmPosted on Aug 25, 2006
Whether it’s because he’s facing a tough campaign against an antiwar Democrat or he just lost his supply of kool-aid, Christopher Shays (R-Conn.) has swung ‘round to sanity on the Iraq war. After returning from his 14th visit to Iraq, the once-steadfast hawk called for a timetable for withdrawal and bashed Rumsfeld: “I haven’t had faith in the secretary in a long time.” Washington Post:

When a republican flip flop from hawk to dove on Iraq war during re-election, you know damn well this flip flopper is desperate. Desperate man does desperate things. Do you want a desperate man in capital hill?
Go easy Shays, it’s time for you to retire.

Our club of British Expats living worldwide has opposed the war in Iraq before it even began.
I do believe however that the majority of Americans are now beginning to realise how they have been conned by a clever political strategist named Karl Rove who understands the power of television.
It is absolutely imperative that any Senator or Congressman who voted for the ruthless invasion
of Iraq should be thrown out of office.
They have served the country in the worst possible way by not exercising their clear duty of oversight of Executive policies. And this applies to both Republicans and Democrats.

shays is a clown—who cares what he says?
all 100 senators & 98% of our house members are warmongers—look at how they voted on lebanon
i’m thinking it’s better to vote for the openly pro-war candidates & let them take our country over the cliff—then we’ll start afresh

>>>it was already the evil empire. <<<<
Precisely.
It is estimated that the USA was/is responsible for the deaths directly or indirectly of 30 million people during the so called Cold War.

He belongs in prison with the rest of the war criminals that started this tragedy. You want terrorism? Try looking right here in America where people are being raped, murdered, and molested on a daily basis. I no longer acknowledge this government as representing the best interests of the majority of Americans!

“Bush reaffirmed this week his opposition to the withdrawal of U.S. troops. Leaving before the job was done would be a disaster, he warned.”
It know it’s like shooting fish in a barrel but… Mr. President, STARTING “the job” was a disaster, CONTINUING “the job” is a disaster. How could “leaving” “the job” POSSIBLY make things worse?
If Americans invested even half as much money into EDUCATION as they do into funding the MILITARY/INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX, they’d have learned by now that to continue to be involved in unwinnable battles is pretty damn stupid. Hell, they might even be smart enough to know not to get involved in the first place! Whaddyathink?
