Al-Sadr Calls on Iraqis to Fight U.S.

Anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr ordered his militia to redouble efforts to oust U.S. forces and called on Iraq’s army and police to join him. The U.S. military, meantime, said 10 American troops were killed over the weekend, including six on Sunday.

Six NATO Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan

With all the recent, and widespread, bloodshed in Iraq, the ongoing struggle in Afghanistan can at times be overshadowed.  According to the BBC, the Taliban may be behind the deaths of six NATO soldiers in south Afghanistan this weekend.

Immigrants Protest Bush Proposal

Immigrant rights groups are voicing their opposition to the president’s new migrant worker plan, which would allow undocumented workers to buy $3,500 permits every three years to remain in the country. Democrats and the Catholic Church have also criticized the proposed policy, which is harsher and costlier than a previous proposal supported by Bush.
