Lamont and Lieberman
From spazeboy.net

Lamont and Lieberman Go Toe to Toe in Debate

Conn. businessman Ned Lamont, who in the polls is closing in fast on Joe Lieberman, forced the three-term senator in a debate Thursday night to defend his strong support for President Bush over the Iraq war, in addition to charging that Lieberman has made his bed in Congress with lobbyists and special interest groups.
A few elbows were thrown.

  • Video highlights
  • Individual video clips of each exchange
  • MSNBC Host: Lieberman used GOP talking points (he even channeled Reagan).
  • Lamont blog with media reactions, fact-checking and blogger coverage
  • Point of interest: One of the main blogs featured on Lamont’s site is My Left Nutmeg.
  • President Bush (interviewed before the debate) on Lieberman
  • Truthdig’s interview with Lamont
  • UPDATE #1: Blogger Enigmatic Paradox gives the debate to Lamont, but not for the reason you’d expect….

Military Checking Journos’ ‘Slant’ Before Granting Access

Newsweek’s former Baghdad bureau chief says that U.S. military personnel in Iraq have started reviewing journalists’ previous work and their “slant,” or point of view, before granting the reporters the right to embed with units. He said some reporters have been “blacklisted” for writing pieces unfriendly to the military.

Did Bush & Co. ‘Floridize’ Mexico’s Voter Rolls?

The FBI obtained Mexico’s voter lists via the same contractor that Florida Gov. Jeb Bush used to scrub alleged felons from the voter rolls. The FBI supposedly obtained the lists as part of counter-terror operations, but there’s reason to suspect those lists will end up helping President Bush’s favored candidate into office in Mexico…. N. Korea Is Seen as Wanting to Grab Nuclear Spotlight From Iran

Stephen Hadley, Bush’s national security advisor, told reporters about North Korea’s missile launch, “Obviously, it is a bit of an effort to get attention, perhaps because so much attention has been focused on the Iranians.”

  • This reminds us of a classic Andy Borowitz article a few years back that said something to the effect of “Kim Jong Il Wants to Know What It Will Take for America to Bomb His Country and Put It on the Map.” Can anyone find that link?
