Jesus: The Man, the MythA Dig led by The Rev. Madison Shockley(Page 2) The Death of Jesus The death of the man from Nazareth was historically inconsequential—a crucified Jew in Jerusalem among so many hundreds crucified during the riotous atmosphere that often surrounded the Passover observance. Passover, a celebration of Jewish freedom, was always an anxious time under Rome’s oppressive occupation. The historical fact is that Jesus was crucified by the Roman Empire. The charge was political sedition, considered a capital crime. For being known as the “King of the Jews” he was crucified by Rome because assuming such a title challenged the sovereignty of the Caesar. The trial scenes recorded in the Gospels were a fiction devised by the early Christian writers to put blame for Jesus’ death on Jewish leadership and deflect responsibility from Roman officials. They did this so that the new religion could survive in a hostile Roman Empire. Not only do they deny any Roman responsibility for the crucifixion, the Gospel of Matthew has a Roman centurion confess, “Truly this man was God’s Son!” (27:54). The Resurrection Was the resurrection a historical event? No. It is a thoroughly theological concept. We learn a lot from the resurrection literature of the early Christian writers. Most of the resurrection stories find the disciples either hiding in fearful seclusion or having returned to their former lives (mostly as fishermen). So why was resurrection necessary? With his death, his message, his meaning and his mission were now left to others to remember, interpret and continue. It all would have been so simple if Jesus had just written his sermons down. The most likely explanation as to why Jesus didn’t write his own Gospel is that Jesus was probably illiterate. Early Christian communities viewed themselves as authentically representing the words, ministry and mission of Jesus. The only way they could do this was if Jesus were still alive. So, they resurrected him. The Gospels But Jesus’ story proved quite malleable in the hands of the skilled editors who would later tell his story. Initially, a wide variety of such remembrances, interpretations and extrapolations emerged from the early Christian communities that had known the historical Jesus. This group—its members generally were known as “the disciples”—was soon distilled into an authoritative clique that the early church came to revere as “the Apostles.” Paul is the only apostle from whom we have authentic written product. However, he, by his own admission, was a lesser apostle because he never knew the historical Jesus but rather was commissioned as an apostle (“as one untimely born”) by the “risen” Jesus. Though the documents that ultimately became the four Gospels bear the names of two apostles (Matthew and John) and two alleged companions (Mark, supposedly a friend of Peter, and someone named Luke, supposedly a friend of Paul—though the only evidence for this is “Luke” himself), they are all anonymous. These characterizations were added in the Second Century in order to add authority to the Gospels. As literary production proliferated, the early church began to list (canonize) certain documents as useful and all others were deemed heretical. It wasn’t until the Fourth Century that the Christian “canon” was closed. However, all of the Gospels (in their final form) and Paul refer to Jesus as far more than a Jewish sage, wisdom prophet and sometime healer and exorcist. But it is exactly this “more” that reveals the fluid treatment that the historical Jesus received at the hands of his biographers. It seems that they mapped his footsteps rather than followed them. Each created the Jesus he needed for his constituency. Matthew mapped a very Jewish Jesus for his Jewish Christian community. Mark mapped a martyr Jesus to encourage his besieged community facing the destruction of the Temple and the Jewish war with Rome. Luke mapped a Holy Spirit that inhabited Jesus to do the work of God and inhabited his church to be the embodiment of the divine presence. John mapped a cosmic Jesus from the beginning of time to the end of eternity. All of this is evidence that the decades separating these writings from the life of Jesus were filled with theological imagination. It wasn’t until the authority of the first Christian emperor, Constantine, combined with a nascent church bureaucracy that alternative interpretations of Jesus were quashed. Only then would the Christian Church (big C) emerge as an international operation of culture and power with Jesus (the) Christ as its imperial head and the bishop of Rome as his vicar. So Who Is Jesus Today? Liberation theology is a branch of Christian theology that understands God to be primarily at work in the world for the liberation of the oppressed. Drawing from the story of the Israelite Exodus (Exodus 3:16), the Israelite prophetic tradition and the teachings and preaching of Jesus, liberation theologians see a clear and consistent “preferential option for the poor” (a phrase borrowed from the U.S. Council of Catholic Bishops’ campaign for human development). Liberation theology identifies Jesus with the marginalized in every society, whether they be peasants in Latin America, African Americans in the United States or gays and lesbians everywhere. So, for black liberation theology Jesus is poor and black. When James Cone declared in 1969 that “Jesus is black” he caused no little controversy in religious circles. The claim by black theology that “Jesus is black” (note the present tense) had both theological and racial implications. First it meant that Jesus was not white. Jesus could not be white because whites were the embodiment of black oppression in America. Theologically, the claim meant that the Eurocentric faith produced by imperialistic Christianity was a gross distortion of the original Jesus movement. This distorted theology produced icons and images of a white-skinned, blond-haired and blue-eyed Jesus totally unreflective of the Palestinian peasant named Jesus, who lived at the nexus of the African and Asian continents. The assertion that Jesus was not white sent a shudder through a mainstream Christianity that was suddenly forced to confront its own racism and examine its version of Christianity, which was little more than a baptized Western culture. This same Christianity has not hesitated to traffic in slavery or condemn the Third World to colonial subservience. The claim that Jesus is black, or gay, or a woman, or a peasant, is not an assertion about Jesus’ personal identity. It is more a way of making demonstrably clear what the central focus of Jesus’ ministry would be today. A popular phrasing of this approach simply asks, “What would Jesus do?” Liberation theology sees Jesus engaged in a ministry outside the four walls of the church and less engaged in a priestly ministry of liturgy and incense. Conversely, the traditional mainline churches continue to hold themselves out as the embodiment of the continuing presence of Jesus—whether the Roman pontiff as the vicar of Christ, or the Anglican, Lutheran and Methodist claims of apostolic succession (for their bishops) or the Protestant focus on the local gathering of Christians in the church (derived from the Greek ekklesia) as the “body of Christ.”

Oh, and also, I forgot to touch on this with you. You said: *****yes, you speak truth. Man has made more than 30 K stories. The Book was written by eyewitnesses and the last book was written by John by 95 AD. The Bible on the other had was inspired by God. “
Where are these eyewitnesses today? Do you think it was fair of god to allow eyewitnesses then and not now? Or would you say that’s a level playing field?
How do you know that Revelation was written by John since man has, by your own admittance, altered the scriptures?
If the Bible was inspired by god, that is, a great deity with this wonderful plan (by your standards, not mine), how do you explain the babies being dashed against rocks? (Psalms) Don’t say because David wrote it because remember, god was guiding his hand. Why would god say a thing like that through David?
What about the slaves all through the old and new testaments? Do you think that was divine hand writing? And if you do, since god’s word stands forever, don’t you think we should have slaves today, sell our virgin daughters and stone our rebellious sons? OR did god change his mind entirely when he became Jesus in the New Testament, thereby changing his mind regarding the OT law. But then…he doesn’t change his mind like man does, or does he?
“God is not like men, who lie; He is not a human who changes his mind. Whatever he promises, he does; He speaks and it is done.” - Numbers 23:19
“So the Lord changed his mind and did not bring on his people the disaster he threatened.” - Exodus 32:14
What about the dozens of contradictions—one of which I just showed you again.. does god change his mind, or doesn’t he?
Answer all these queries and we’ll see.

****** he wasn’t a robot..he had free will. that is the point.”
Okay, but you said: “*****It has to do with the separation of Good and evil. Evil was necessary to give man that choice to make in order to exercise his perfect free will.”
If they were already practicing free will and not doing any wrong as the Bible shows plainly by the way everyon was getting along, why place the tree of knowledge of goo and evil there? And were they just being robots before the tree was placed there? Was the tree placed there just to trip them up into doing something evil? Wouldn’t that be evil for god to do to his two new creational friends? For that matter, why allow an evil serpent that you’ve cast down from the heavens—into paradise? By the very definition, it’s not paradise with this evil snake roaming about with guile in his mouth—yet the Bible calls it “paradise”. hm.
As far as souls being eternal, does that mean that your’s and my soul are eternal? And if they’re eternal as you say, have they always existed? And if they did, where were they before that night my mom DID’T have a headache? Where in the Bible does it say that a fetus has a soul? God had lesser plans for babies and didn’t seem to find them worthy of much. Let me demonstrate.
In Exodus 21:22-25 It says that if a man accidentally kills a pregnant woman, that man should be condemned for committing murder. However, if he only kills the fetus - that is, if she miscarries - he is not condemned for murder. Clearly, then, God does not consider the pre-born fetus as being the same as a human being, in which case the Commandment of “Thou Shalt Not Kill (a human)” does not apply.
So, then, when do we receive our “eternal” souls and where were they before we were born?

All right, you only gave two of the triad. The almighty and Jesus. But you said we get three flavors of deity. So we are waiting for the third one. Then, next question, for what reason would a deity first of all create all these people on earth (assuming for the sake of your argument god made everything) to allow them to be mortals (that is, they die), then send an incarnation to die so that these people could live eternally, and why wouldn’t they continue to live on earth? It is all so confusing. Oh, yeah, did god also give humans minds that think rationally and critically? If yes, did he give all humans minds that think rationally and critically? If not, why? And isn’t that the difference between man and monkeys?
And while we are at it, just a couple more small questions, what are the differences and samenesses between your god and Al’lah? And why does god have a gender?

Oh you mean THIS god?
Exodus 22:16, where we read “If a man seduces a virgin who is not betrothed, and lies with her, he shall give the marriage present for her, and make her his wife.” But when we look at the verse immediately following, we get a whole different picture. In verse 17 we read, “If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equivalent to the marriage present for virgins.” Just like the Deuteronomy reference we can clearly see this is not about sex, but rather is about destroying a commodity - a virgin daughter who can be sold for a price. In these Exodus verses it’s spelled out even more clearly. There is no mention of immorality, nor is the man who seduces the woman penalized for having sex before marriage - only for having sex with a virgin, and even then his only penalty is to pay the father what the woman would have cost as a virgin.
A few people have interpreted Deuteronomy 22:13-21 to be against pre-marital sex, but when we actually read what’s there we see it’s about lying and bringing disgrace to one’s father, not about sex. In these verses a man is given a bride by another man, and then goes to court to claim the woman was not a virgin. The verses then say that the bride’s father must prove she was a virgin. If he can prove it, the new husband is fined for bringing shame upon the bride’s family by claiming he was given a faulty bride. If she cannot prove she’s a virgin, then she is put to death for being a harlot while still in her father’s house. Notice that there is nothing said about the man not being a virgin, and there are no equal punishments brought against men. Why? Because this is not about having sex. It’s about a woman who is still considered property, meaning she lives in her father’s house and is being given to another man (in exchange for money), taking it upon herself to sleep around and thus destroying her value as a bride worth selling. In this case, the woman having sex brings shame to her family by making the father out to be a liar when he accepts money from a man who wants to bed down with a virgin. In short, while having sex outside of marriage is not forbidden by the Bible, the women not being honest about it brought dishonor to her father, which is a sin according to the Ten Commandments.
“God is not like men, who lie; He is not a human who changes his mind. Whatever he promises, he does; He speaks and it is done.” - Numbers 23:19
“So the Lord changed his mind and did not bring on his people the disaster he threatened.” - Exodus 32:14

You stated in your last post that satan had to ask god for permission, then you cited the book of Job. I guess he died just to play hide and seek with the sheeples.
Tom,
Your reasoning is way off. And you’ve proven nothing. You have shown some pretty nice, and I might add often over-used by xians, to show why YOU believe Jesus existed. I heard the story differently. Logic dictates a simple fact: a god who is all loving could think of a better way to save the world from the torturous hell he has awaiting them—even though he loves them enough to die for them. It’s conditional, human and bears no trace of reality at all.
As Jon Stewart so aptly puts it as he raises his head to the sky “He’s not coming back!” By the by, the Talmud was written in the first century denying Jesus’ existence. Who will you believe? Those who have a lot of money and your mind under control? Or will you free it to think for yourself? I know if you did, you’d give it up and except the fact that we are space material…nothing more.

Naomi Wolf, Alex Jones, Michael Moore and many others work for the bad guys. They are now using step five to bring together a favoritism to the UN form of government, revolution to lead to martial law and a dictatorship in the US. This will be our fourth attempt at a military coup…once between 1933-1934 with the traitor FDR; 1960-1963, but JFK wasn’t going to be a part and was in fact going to splinter the CIA, back our money with the Silver Certificant [many were printed then], eliminate the mafia called the Federal Reserve a private banking firm; Pull troops from Vietnam, and mess around with the Israeli’s attempt to build the nuke facility in Dimona…......to name a few things…...

The New Testament contains 27 separate documents which were written in the 1st century AD. These particular writings contain the story of the life of Jesus Christ and the beginnings of the Christian church from about 4 BC until the decade of the AD nineties. However, we also know that Satan hijacked the Christian faith, and inspired many mistranslations and religions that are offshoots. The facts were recorded by eyewitnesses who gave firsthand testimony to what they had seen and heard. In one instance 5,000 witnesses were around and were fed….by his miracles. The existence of Jesus is recorded by Flavius Josephus, and was not a hoax. The fact of the life of Jesus existing is not in question.
Cornelius Tacitus AD 112, A Roman historian no less, wrote about Nero, refers to Jesus Christ and the existence of Christians in Rome..Annals, XV, 44. Seutonius, in AD 120, in the Life of Claudius AD 112 in his Epistles. testimony of Christian and non-Christian is more than sufficient to lay to rest any idea that Jesus never existed. His life is in more detail than most ancient figures whose existence is taken for granted by historians. Even the Koran talks about jesus…...no one will die for a lie and if anyone knew his life and resurrection was a lie the Disciples knew. They all died save one, testifying to the deity and life and resurrection of Jesus. suicide bombers kill themselves, but they believe they are doing the right thing and they are killing themselves for what they believe is truth.

Why do you say “glad you’re not a federal judge”?
Please don’t tell me that you think a federal judge would say anything of truth an fairness to you.
Give me the material, Tom. I want irrefutable evidence and I will believe. Give it to me now.
In the meantime, you are a machine and I think you will enjoy this zeitgeist addendum. Don’t worry—it’s about the banks (the legal system..hmmm) and other things I think you’ll like. It won’t crumble your notion of your idea that only YOU have the answer an no one else.
But first just for the sake of my argument, if you know that Jesus existed as you say—then you can prove it. I challenge you to do that right now.

Shenonymous,
Thank you. You’ve actually helped me with the other thread.
Tom,
We’ve been through this. You can’t prove that Jesus exists or that the OT god exists by using the Bible. That would be akin to me trying to prove the existence of Huckleberry Finn by using “Tom Sawyer” as a reference guide.
Show me the evidence that Jesus existed. Don’t just say it, show it to me. I have never seen any. I can only suggest that a rebel hippie came along at the time and uprooted the “Laws” of the OT so that the Jews could somehow free theirselves from it, all while forgetting that women are equal to men, and it is evil to have slaves. It’s just an evolutionary piece if it’s true at all(the NT). Read “Misquoting Jesus”. I highly recommend it to you. You need to take the blinders off and be free from that crappola.
I cannot believe that you love Bible god just because he’s the creator of this earth that is riddled with sorrow and disease, death and pain. Please tell me that you’re kidding when you try to add your OWN spin on such a ridiculous thought.
You want me to believe that you love god because you respect him even though you’ve never seen him. You also conceded that no one has any proof of the deification of Jesus when you stated that was the issue. Still, you want everyone to believe that you don’t love these ideas or gods because you fear them, even though you know what the belief is regarding those who don’t believe in the Bible: Hell. Well, I am sorry, but I do not believe you. I don’t believe you can or do respect something you’ve never seen nor that has manifested itself to you personally. I do NOT believe that you aren’t in fear of hell, and in greedy desire of the opposite bribe: Heaven.
I do not agree with you, and I cannot believe you on that one. If it were true, you could just blindly go around choosing who you wanted for a wife based on what another human being said. Hearsay, Tom. That is what the Bible is. Hearsay. The writings of nomads who didn’t understand science as we do today—didn’t know the earth went around the sun and not the other way around, didn’t know that the hare doesn’t chew it’s cud, didn’t know that a bat is not a fowl, etc. These falsehoods are all in the Bible. If you still say that it is god’s word for you, you are in tremendous fear. I would wonder if you sweat blood at times.

The teaching of the Old Testament law can be found in Lev. 20:10; Deut 22:22f. You can note that these passages teach that both the adulterer and the adulteress should be put to death. If the woman was taken in the very act, then the man should have been caught too. Where was he? If the Jews were really so concerned about following Moses’ law as they pretended to be, they would have brought the man too. What they really wanted to do was to trap Jesus to answer the way they wanted.
Their notion was based on their belief that Jesus came to be an earthly king. If so, Jesus would judge such matters as this. If He [Jesus] judged to kill her, they could accuse Him to the Romans of having usurped their authority, since no one could be put to death without their authority (18:31). If he said not to kill her then they could accuse Him of breaking Moses’ law. So, they continued to press Him for an answer, so He said that whoever among them was sinless should be the first to throw a stone at her.
Our creator showed his wisdom by putting them in their place. The wisdom of the creator was beyond their own….because he turned the tables on them in more than one way. First, it gave them the duty to kill her, if it was to be done. This approach agreed with the Law of Moses, which they claimed to be following, for it said the witnesses must be the first ones to initiate the execution of the guilty (Deut. 17:6,7; cf. Deut. 13:9). They would have to execute her if it was to be done. In that case, they would be the ones to have to give answer to the Romans for having usurped their authority.
Second, this was an appeal to their own consciences which was the change that was emerging with the presence of the true savior for the world before them. In the presence of all the people, He was forcing them to claim, if they stoned her, that they themselves were innocent of guilt. They had come to Him with hypocritical intentions, not to uphold the law, but to trap Him. His approach called attention to the evil they were committing in the very act of bringing the woman to Jesus.
Note that this does not say, as some claim, that we should never criticize the sins of others, and if we do we are hypocrites claiming we ourselves never sin. “Casting the first stone” refers to killing the woman, not just rebuking her sin.
It is a gross perversion to teach that people are “casting stones” in the sense of John 8 when they simply rebuke people for sin! Jesus’ disciples often pointed out people’s errors, but the subject under discussion here is killing the woman for adultery. It has nothing to do with whether or not sin should be rebuked.
Third, after Jesus’ statement, the accusers left. When Jesus then said that He did not “condemn” the woman in v11, He uses the word “condemn” as in v10 - to pass a death sentence and determine to stone her to death. Jesus was saying that her accusers had not been willing to do that, so neither would Jesus condemn her to be stoned. According to the law, her accusers had to be the ones to cast the first stone. The law required a person to be put to death only if there were two or more witnesses to condemn them. They could not be condemned when there were no witnesses nor even if there was just one witness (see Deut. 19:15; 17:6). When the accusers left, Jesus could not stone her according to the law.

“The Bible is a disgusting piece of crap literature meant for different times. People hang on because of fear.”
******The fear of God has nothing to do with the emotion of Fear in the sense of being afraid. It has to do with the fear which equals respect. This is the case that many want to spin.
“There is no historial evidence for Jesus’ existence. The Bible has been translated and re-translated through the years losing ALL of it’s integrity.”
******The evidence of Jesus’s existence is irrefutable. However, the proof of deity of Jesus is the only dispute. The following translations after the KJV is just as you say. Those translations after 1611 have in fact lost a lot of intergrity and not by accident. The KJV is the only true Book that has received the true inspiration of God in its translation. This is the main reason for the following translations as you say.
“If I wanted to “match up” to the god of the Bible, I would stone children who were rebellious, beat my slaves with many stripes (unless they said “sorry” then they would only get a few—2Timothy and Mtthew).”
******This is incorrect. The Old testament was a story of man under the judgment of God without a savior but sinners with no redemption save the ones that chose to obey God. Even the Jews under Noah, Moses et al, chose to disobey and were punished under the old law of God. After Jesus took those sins on his own blood he became the redeemer and judgment was the old law no longer necessary or required. Jesus took that punishment and returned to life to be the redeemer and show that he was God. for the truth read Luke 10:25-37 for the command that God gives after the birth of Christ.

It occured to me that some people are “colour blind”—but how do we know that they don’t see correctly given who they are? We’re individuals and so cannot all be held to the same standards of any one god. It’s not reasonable nor fair.

Miss Annie, that is exactly how we see. We all see differently, with only the ability to see being the same of those who have vision. Rods and cones in the eyes are idiosyncratic and mainly genetically determined although environment can affect their use. Also the condition of the optic nerve and the part of the brain responsible for vision affect how the world is experienced visually. Of those who do see the spectrum ranges can be measured to be different. It would be unusual for two people, even identical twins, to have the same visual experiences. One final influence in seeing is what one wants to see! Visually or mentally.

*****Not sure which god you are speaking of. We are sinners in accordance with his commandments. And it fits well. Nowhere does it say that he finds us filthy or worthless. It is quite the opposite. It is mans choice to put words in Gods mouth and to make the decisions that man makes.

“How do you KNOW he lived, Tom? :D”
****There is no question he lived. The evidence that has been presented by historians, Koran and many sources is not the issue. The issue is whether or not he was the son of God, died and rose again, and the miracles.
“Of course that’s your faith talking—and talking loud and proud. But in truth, you can’t possibly KNOW that a man named Jesus even lived. To say that you know is only to say that you have great faith that he did. That doesn’t mean it’s true.”
******there is no evidence that he didn’t. The evidence that he did is off the chart.

****True….....but, then the truth is also very possible. No evidence doesn’t mean its not true.

*******We are born by parents as you say. We are sons and daughters of man. However, taking Jesus as savior we become born again and sons of God as a result of taking Jesus as savior. The parents issue, is making the vessel by which the soul will function. The spirit is supernatural and made by God. The Spirit is not made by man and woman coming together and the egg creates its own supernatural soul.

****Good. thank you. I’m watching what I told many long ago would happen. The failing of the Banks is a mirror of the Great Depression that they created in 1915 to 1929 in preparation for our most grand Traitor to pull off a dictatorship by his New Deal..FDR. It failed as it should. Today is a classic replay of the created depression in preparation for the New World Order to move to its next level. Between January to March, 1929 and then regularly, 500-600 banks failed per month leading to their orchestrated Depression. In 1927, final meeting of the Federal Reserve Board. In 1928, Wall Street funded and materially set up Hitler to start his war…...in 1929, the Depression getting us ready for war, in 1933-1934 our first real Military coup was hatched but in 1934 General Butler blew the whistle to a congressional committee, it was swept under the carpet. Prescott Bush, DuPont’s, Rockefeller and many more had financed it. In 1939-1945 our and Britians orchestration of WWII was in full swing when they sacrificed Pearl Harbour to get us into the war in Europe that we financed anyway. You don’t even want to know about the CIA and their pet, Al Qaeda.

To start, I’ve been away from this site almost a year. Even back before then somehow I missed this one. It’s 2008 now.
Report thisAfter reading over the blog a few times I got a little sleepy. I’ve gotta admit it is well written and insightful.
And then I began reading the posts. My eyes got crossed. LOL
From what I read, once again I see that most everyone gets far away from the subject matter.
The xtian bible attempts to place a Nazareth Jew in line with the house of David.
Let’s not forget that at that time the Jews held anyone with a blood line back to David in very high esteem. High enough to make sure they would not hurt for comforts at the very least. Why was Joe and Mary so darn poor then? And Nazareth back then had very few Jews even living there…go ask a Rabbi, I did. They were mostly goyims. Oy Vay!
And why oh why does the entire story of a god’s virgin birth, death and resurrection replicate that of their southwest neighbor not to mention the Greeks who borrowed it from Eygpt?
Ask any Rabbi to interpet the meaning of what the Messiah was to do according to his Bible. He was to be a leader such as King David was. A visionary who would lead His people back to the glory of the days promised in the Covenant.
The very idea of a Messiah with a message that all would be alright once one died and got into heaven was horribly blasphemous to them.
Indeed, even Rome considered the early christians as heretics.
But back to that Nazarene. There is actually only one or two historical references to him. I’m tired and sleepy so I need help remembering that Jewish historians name but he was considered the first of the historians to try and stick to the facts. Ask any good historian of that era, the one I am referring only reported that he had heard rumors of a Jesus from Naz. who was a most learned rabi, but he knew no one from that area who had actually seen the guy.
By the way, the majority of first/early xtians did not believe that Jesus was the only one that came from G-d; they believed what he said, that we all were of G-d. They did believe he was special. You can read that above in the text of this blog.
They also did not believe in a virgin birth; that idea happened many years later and was pushed through at the first council. That myth got started by the goyim…as the early followers were mostly Jewish and were looking for a new vision. The goyim were probably reading a lot of myths from Egypt and Greece.
To end, I must admit I do admire the many incredible sayings put forth by this mystic being whoever he/she was. Many of these sayings can be found in the writings of the early Rabbis & Jewish Mystics of the Merkabah.
A respected old Rabbi of Jesus’s era was once told by a goy; “I’ll get circumsized and join your faith if you can stand on one foot and sum up your beliefs before putting your foot back down.”
The wise Rabbi held his foot with his hand and began hopping up and down as he said; “Don’t do to nobody what you wouldn’t want done to yourself!”
That day there was a new convert to Judism.

What critics have failed to discredit the Bible? Words of men, btw. So who? Hitchens and Dawkins as well as Harris are doing a slam dunk good job of nailing it to a cross where it belongs. (no pun intended). People are waking up, Tom

****of course, Satan knows the Bible better than any human. Atheist know the Bible just from the point of view by reading it, they can make a vain attempt to discredit it….which has obviously failed. However, not due to atheist, but globalist, the church will fall away making way for the Luciferian worship or New Age religion.
If one was to read the Bible they could see the validity of the Holy Spirit inspiration. However, because of your disbelief in Jesus Christ, God send great delusion to those that are unbelievers that they should believe a lie.

Well, Tom, I know you live in the “mist” but AKgurl is around some of the time or she wouldn’t have posted again. Maybe she’s a holy spirit—who can say?
I don’t need to discredit the Bible. It discredits itself. I only petition those with a mind of their own to concider that they are as duped as they think Islam is. Their book is just as erroneous if they would only READ it instead of listening to preachers, (yes! Like Shockley) or people like you or me, for that matter. And really read it for themselves from front cover to back cover.
I have already done this. I see how out of date it is and that it is not for people of today. Those who are still following it, however, simply have not read it or are stupid.
Since I believe in the intelligence of most people, I have to say most do not read. They rely in the dogma of their particular religion. In fact, I have discovered that most atheists know the Bible better than xians.
Tom, I can’t prove Harry Potter to you by using books about Harry Potter. By the same token, you cannot prove anything about the Bible by using the Bible—don’t be a goof. And there is absolutely NO outside evidence for the validity of any of these writers being “inspired by a spirit”. That’s just nonsense. If there were, you would have gladly spilled it out on page. As it is, you have yet to come up with anything other than the Bible which discredits itself; and conspiracy theories—which are nothing more than theories. And THEY have nothing to do with the Bible.
As far as my “plight”...secularists are growing by the day. Unbelievers are in every nation and CHURCH. Religion has taught people NOT to believe through war. And xians, muslims and Jews have led the way with their hatred. I would love to take the credit, but alas, I am just a small voice.
And I am innocent of hate.

Very well put. I almost didn’t see this post. AKGurl, you have a good heart and you know the character of God. The church is falling away as its predicted and Satan is deceiving the clergy. I found that Billy Graham is not whom he claims to be and so goes many more…..they are following the New Age Movement as its not time they came out. It was a hard pill to swallow but deception abounds. Trust no clergy until he claims that Jesus Christ is the son of God, he died for our sins and was resurrected from the Dead to life to be our savior. When that church believes that and the clergy [pastor, minister, Priest, whomever], supports it as well then they can be trusted with the true word. The New Age Movement believes in “christ” but not Jesus. It is preparing the way for the false Messiah or false Christ soon.

Annie, your plight to discredit the Bible will fail. I have to hand it to you for trying. But, its impossible to succeed when you deal with truth. The only success that you will have is to confuse those Christians weak in faith and weak in the knowledge of God’s word. Most of what you have written up there are lies based on a distortion, not misunderstanding, of Gods word.
I have a feeling that AKGurl isn’t around about this time because she has figured what I found some times ago that the truthdug is an atheist site, duh…..!!

This is what I have noticed ..
AKgurl, you should register so we can see your comments at the top.
Anyway, you’ve noticed that we are the ones Jesus spoke of when he said that “they” would try to turn you away, etc. I am fully aware of what Jesus said. And while I DO sincerely applaud your idealism, the Bible CONDONES rape. Do YOU have a daughter? Then you need to concider certain parts of the Bible that show us that we, as women, are not worth but half a male to the great “I am”. He conciders women less and if you’re flirty, you get scabs placed on your head and your vagina laid bare for all to see. It’s in there! I will provide references if you like.
Also, the male is worth 20 shekels of silver—you and I as women are worth 10. Half a male. “God” is only the imagination of the men wrote him, just as the Koran is which bears the same warning about “us”. Scribes of an iron-age. Don’t take MY WORD for it! No! That way your Jesus (who condoned slavery btw. read the book of Luke) won’t be in your head saying “it’s them, they’re the ones trying to take me from you”-which is your own mind based on your own belief system anyway.
So, I suggest you read the Bible. Don’t listen to your priest or your pastor. They have agendas, too. READ the Bible. All of it not just the nicey-nice parts.
God was written by men. He didn’t exist so they mae him up!. Do you ave a daughter? Would you drown her? God supposedly drown the entire creation except for Noah. Do you condone this? Isaiah 45:7 says that God created evil. Read it. Don’t pay any attention to my ramblings.
As for the Dead Sea Scrolls, they do NOT correlate with the Bible. There goes your truth. They have certain parts—Psalms. But they have more psalms than the Bible does. Also, there are far more stories of Abraham than the Bible has. THEY WERE JEWS!! haha Look, the rest doesn’t fit and since it was written before Jesus time (and an authentic writing) they mention nothing of your Jesus. Why not? Because it was before his time? Why not tell of the coming messiah? There’s nothing there.
Study up. Then come back. I would love to see you defend the indefensible. But I would be happier if you just faced it—if there is a god, god is not the way these silly books are written. I can think of a better way to save my “children” and so can you.
What does that say of your deity? perhaps that he was written by men FOR men. That’s why men can have concubines but women are to be stoned! Still are stoned in some places today. God demanded stonings. Want to know what that is like? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIZJNrc8sKw
This is what your god called for MANY MANY TIMES in the Bible. Jesus only called for the beatings of slaves. He was, it’s true, the kinder face of god. But then, he’s a sequel or after-thought. Otherwise, why would he claim to be god? He’s nothing like him.
You need to truly study up. First watch the video and then concider that this happened all the time because the writeres said “god told me to…stone you”.. Is this the god you wish to believe in? IF so, you are evil. Full stop.

“Theyre all three CHOCK FULL of man-made lies and errors. For you to sit there and say the KJV is intact is a bald faced lie. You must know that!”
*****Not at this point. I’ve been through all of this and discovered that most all are manmade and inspired by satanic inspiration to different levels. This includes the Charasmatic movement brought about by the Illuminati.
The push is for a new Messiah, a new Christ to come into view. The only one is Jesus who died on the cross and rose again. The wolves in sheeps clothing now and supporting the same religion that Oprah is coming up with are the following: Robert Shueller, Billy Graham, Joel Osteen, Benny Hinn, Bishop Pearson, Bishop Braizer, the list if growing. I also found that the Illuminati has widely used these folks. I quote from Roosevelt’s Communist Manifesto, by Emanuel Josephson, 1955, page 62-63.
“Whenever under attack, the Rockefellers make such “philanthropic” gesture, particularly to religion. In the early part of this century following the outraged outcry of the nation at the brutal Colorado Fuel & Iron massacre of their workers, the set up hte Laura Spelman Rockfeller Memorial. It initially was entirely devoted to “charity” and support of churches; but as soon as pubic attention was diverted, its moneys went ot the support went to the support of subversion and the Illuminati-communist comspiracy under the direction of Beardsley Ruml. THEY ALSO LAUNCHED BILLY SUNDAY ON HIS EVANGELICAL REVIVALISM IN THAT ERA AS THEY ARE NOW DOING WITH BILLY GRAHAM. [1950’s]. Weishaupt taught his followers well the value of using “religion” and “philantropy” as a cover for the conspiracy. In 1936, Naval Intelligence pronounced the “Federal Council of Churches of Christ” ran by John Foster Dulles [Dulles Airport], a one of the most dangerous subversive institutions in the country. Is that fear or is that the truth of what the punishment will be. In this case, any sin that is committed in the sight of God is death…and a permanent separation from his grace. This is what I have noticed about those of you that say there is not religion..
Report thisJesus said that you would always say that, he even said that those of you are the ones that would try to convince me of my faith in him and the Lord. Why would all the scriptures that have even been DISCOVERED by archeologists be so hard to believe? To add another point for you that say only believe basically in science. If thats the case then tell me how and why believing in the Egyptians from centuries ago are true and make sense. But yet they were also discovered by their own scriptures and guess who, by the archeologists as well.
Funny isn’t it? How it is easier for one to believe in the past and the other worlds that used to exist but not so easy once you add a religion to it.
I have noticed that so many people fear the idea of actually allowing someone else to take over our future. Terrified of letting someone else take control of our lives. That those that choose to live for only but themselves that they are making a better decision.
God wanted us to stay happy, he wants us to love him the same way that he has loves us today. Yes maybe there are others things that you will come up with that make you feel better for denying him, but yet you still haven’t been able to prove otherwise. You only talk of why you shouldn’t have to, but again where is your prove that says otherwise?
One time I sat down and thought to myself what all of you and so many others thought and believed in instead. But it would be terrible to live the way you do, especially if everyone and even if our Presidents lived the way you do. To only live for himself, well we might as well just kill others feelings.
Everytime when a guy would try to fondle me up, I would say “No, I don’t want to.” Then they would ask “Why not”, then I would tell them because I believe that I would hurt Gods feelings because he knows whats best for me. They say “pish-posh.” But thats the reason right there why he is so much more smarter than all of us, because he wants us to live by loving each other.
Think about it, any of you have a daughter? Wouldn’t you want her to live for herself but not in a hurtful manner? In other words..to live for yourself, you still can..but with God as your father and helping you to make wiser decisions so as to not get hurt or to hurt others. Thats not a selfish way to live, its so we can live in love and understanding, why does that sound so bad??
If all of our sons knew not to push your daughters, and if the daughters knew how to respect herself and he should respect her..we wouldn’t be dealing with the rapes and things that we have to continually worry about today.!
Thats why religion is a good thing, so we don’t live for ourselves in a selfish manner but in a non-stop loving kind.

The freedom is truth. She was honest to say that if she didn’t have God in her life she would be out of her mind. Meaning, because of the evil that persists and the supernatual presence of God through Jesus Christ he sustains her. I can’t judge your claim to be Christian, and I can’t judge, assuming you are truthful, you LOSS of faith as we all are tested, but the true of faith doesn’t leave. He is there for us and will test our faith. You have shedded reason and you have shedded light…..others won’t suffer like you since then have stronger faith and patience.
You tend to act friendly or write that way to sway, then you go off on a tangent…:)) very clever. Anyway,

Its long but interesting of the what’s going to happen. It is a fact that there is an ancient plan hidden for centuries deep within secret societies. It has been designed to bring all of mankind under a single world government, A NEW WORLD ORDER. It is so old it is even mentioned in the Bible, even as to the characters. The Rule of the Anti-Christ mentioned in the Revelation of Saint John the Divine.
He’s not talking about the communists, he is talking about the 33rd degree Masons, Skull and Bones, control of the media. The Kennedy’s are a part of the Illuminati. A true American. He died for it as did Robert and many others. Major General Smedley Butler did also, “War is a Racket”....

Like I said, Tom, tick tock.
As for AKgurl I applaud her for being honest enough to reveal that “she would go out of her mind” if she didn’t have her belief system. But in the long run, my guess is that she’s going out of her mind wondering anyway. Otherwise, what is she doing here? For that matter what are you doing here, Tom? Anyone with a half wit can see your tales are tall and belong solely to you.
As for me, I am shedding reason and light so that others never suffer what I did when I was a Christian. If anyone takes something from the logic I type, I am glad, glad, glad. Thats one step closer to freedom for them.

Prayers are useless. But if it makes one feel better, go for it. Psychological devices can be helpful to make it through the night (or any anxious problem). Course I think a glass of Cabernet could do a lot more good. At least one can feel the effect, it tastes great, and you can have a great salad with it, and….some fresh bread. But facing the reality of truth, now that is the hard part, and the delusional fairy tales keep the veils over ones eyes and prevents one from being a whole and integrated human being. Religion is a narcotic and keeps truth from the door.

Its interesting to hear that we go out of our mind, by believing in Jesus. Its quite the opposite. They are providing labels that could very well be Freudian slips…...You are right about praying for them, as I don’t really flame anymore like I did. Every once and a while I’ll throw a negative comment or judgment in that direction but, I catch myself afterwards and realize that it was not the thing to do. I’m working on that. We cannot trust any human, Pope, Preacher, Minister or pastor, etc….until we know the or she is teaching that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way. Not Christ, but, Jesus Christ. A false christ and messiah is coming soon that will make even the atheist bow down or die…...this is by their own plans and quotes.
August 15, 1871 - Now, can any thinking person doubt that the intrigue now going on in the near Middle and far East is designed to accomplish that satanic objective? Albert Pike himself foretold all this in a statement he made to Mazzini. Pike stated that after World War III is ended; those who will aspire to undisputed world domination will provoke the greatest social cataclysm the world has ever known. Quoting his own words taken from the letter he wrote to Mazzini and which letter is now catalogued in the British Museum in London, England; he said:
Report this“We shall unleash the nihilists and the atheists and we shall provoke a great social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to all nations the effect of absolute atheism; the origins of savagery and of most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the people will be forced to defend themselves against the world minority of the world revolutionaries and will exterminate those destroyers of civilization and the multitudes disillusioned with Christianity whose spirits will be from that moment without direction and leadership and anxious for an ideal, but without knowledge where to send its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer brought finally out into public view. A manifestation which will result from a general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and Atheism; both ! conquered and exterminated at the same time.”

This is entirely wrong at what you are saying. The Lack of awareness and denial on the part of Atheist will be the shock and awe they will experience when the time of judgment comes. Science fails, evolution fails, the New Age Designers have failed in producing results but succeeded in misleading an unaware public. Atheism and New Age Religion have no root system but they do have a common internal fear. The fear that just maybe Jesus doesn’t really exist. If I close my eyes and believe otherwise maybe it will just be. I have news for you, the truth will come out one last time before the Tribulations start. AKgurl already is many light years ahead of learning anything from this conversation I am having from you two. I’m surprised that Jimmy the Rocket hasn’t shown up by now…..

Hello, I agree with you. We have have to watch our backdoor as well. I have discovered that the church is falling away as the Revelation has said.
Dulles worked for Rockefellers.

Thanks for the prayers AKgurl, but I believe that’s when you don’t do anything and feel like your have helped. So it’s really not necessary.
As for this statement: “At least for me in my defense of believing in Christ and the Lord our God I can safely say,..Why live your life everyday thinking that you were just here by chance?”
Don’t you think you’re taking just as big of a chance in believing Christ is the Lord your God and not Allah? No, because my guess is, you live in the western world. You’re really no different than anyone. You’ve just deluded yourself that you have the answer. I say there’s no god. You say it’s Jesus. Someone else says it’s Allah, and yet someone else says it’s YHWH.
You’re taking a huge risk.
Just as big as anyone else. Your piety is only surpassed by your fear. My question to you is: why live in fear? You don’t KNOW that Jesus is lord or that he ever even existed- so why go “out of your mind”? Just live the one life you know you have.

Akgurl, you can deny anything you want. It is your prerogative to believe anything you want. But if you make a public statement then you are hoping to receive confirmation of your beliefs. Your comment is typical of those who have given up their own mind to fables and stories because of the fear of death and the ignorance of the nature of the universe in which you find yourself. That is the ancient and primitive fear and origin of religion. You feel the infant comfort in thinking you have something that takes care of you. From your own words you are emotionally dependent on a caregiver. Why live your life dependent on a fictionalized supernatural being? Why do you not take responsibility yourself to make your life meaningful? What is really so bad at dissolving back into the particles from whence you came? You have no consciousness of yourself before you were born, why need a consciousness of a sort after you die? You have your rathers and preferences of thinking you will somehow live forever, eternally even after your body dies. And that is all you know. You know only your own fear and have laziness of mind. What might you be like after you die? Will you still be you? You might cruise the entire set of comments, all the pages of this article to see the evolution of the dialogue that tgambill and Annie Reitano are now having. They represent the two different polls of the human mind. Ignorance and truthful awareness. You might learn something.

All I know is, is I am gonna look at those that deny Christ in disappointment when your time of judgment comes. I will pray for those that have even no faith at all, because to have faith in anything is the reason why humanity is still around today.
Report thisAt least for me in my defense of believing in Christ and the Lord our God I can safely say,..Why live your life everyday thinking that you were just here by chance? That when you die, you just dissolve into the ground and thats it..?? For me, I would go absolutely mad if that was how I saw my present and future existence. I rather and I am sure that so many others would much rather prefer, the aspect of being in a wonderful place that our lives were meant live eternally.
I dont know, you guys say watchu want..

God, spirit, Nephilm, Cherubim, seraphim, satan, unicorns, half men-half creature/angel giants, lucifer, Joseph, twelve brothers, disowned by everyone but father, KING JOSEPH—Jesus, miracles, walking on water, healing the sick, making the parlyzed walk again, touch his robe and you’ll be fine, twelve disciples, one denies him, disowned by everyone except dad, (because he was his own dad) KING JESUS….
It’s a re-run of the OT. But I am prepared. tick tock tick tcck.
Dear gods and monsters, your time is running out.
haha It IS bullcrap!! It’s so mythological that anyone who believes it today is batshit crazy. It’s like the Scientologist, alien huggers. What is happening to the melted minds of people??
I think it’s our inner need to feel special. I really do. I know that’s what it was for me. Terrible parents (good xians! go figure) but terrible parenting. I never felt a part of any crowd or group. Jesus made it all clear to me. Until I read about his dad!
Lewis Black was right. God calmed down after having a son. Enjoy the comic side.

I’ll make is short and sweet…..He sent down Watchers, to guide man, as they were given human bodies, no parents of man. There is a difference. Son of man, daughters of man are just that….The OT was tough on those that were not in God’s favor. They were evil and so forth…with Nephilim bloodlines.

Lay off the wine, Tom. I never said that times today were the same. Quite the contrary. It’s been my main point. You believe iron-age primitives and I believe what I understand today—it’s all bullshit and is impossible, not improbable. It’s all simply myth. I have always said that. Full stop.

“And it came to pass . . . That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. . . . There were giants [nephilim] in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came into the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.” (Genesis 6:1-4)
Angels had sex with women. So, we have half man-half human creatures on the earth. mmm hmmm You’re drinking tonight, aren’t you Tom? Angels came to bed down women with their giant penises. Hey! I thought that angels were androgynous. Xian apologists say that they’re androgynis and try to dismiss Nephilm talk. That’s one more version .....
“And the booty, being the rest of the prey which the men of war had caught, was 675,000 sheep, And 72,000 beeves, And 61,000 asses, And 32,000 persons in all, of women that had not known man by lying with him . . . of which the Lord’s tribute was 32 persons. And Moses gave the tribute, which was the Lord’s heave offering, unto Eleazar the priest, as the Lord commanded Moses.” (Numbers 31:32-41)
