Vetting Sarah PalinA Dig compiled by the editors of TruthdigTruthdig is excited to collaborate with Capzles.com on a unique new way of telling a story – in this case, about VP hopeful (and, yes, possible president) Sarah Palin – using video, audio and text “moments” along an interactive timeline. This is a work in progress, and we’ll be adding updates continually, so check it out and let us know how we can add to it during this final stretch leading up to the historic Nov. 4 election. The “get & share” option on the bottom right side of the Capzle can be used in order to email it, get the link or embed it on another site, so spread the word and, as Robin Williams so memorably put it, share “the Palin love.” You betcha!

Juli An-- I’m sorry, but your description of Sarah Palin sounds like it bubbled out of an alternate universe. The only reason Palin comes off as “strong” is because she’s not bright enough to know what her considerable limitations are. A person who is oblivious to their own shortcomings often appears confident and, as some have said, “excessively decisive”. I don’t know of anybody who is threatened by or afraid of Palin. That is, unless you’re talking about her having any power over their lives. This is a woman who eschews the scientific method, and has shown zero interest in the world outside of Alaska for most of her adult life. After attending five colleges, looking for the campus with a suitable climate, she finally got a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and eventually became a television sportscaster. That gave her a taste of celebrité, which she has pursued ever since. There is simply nothing distinguished about her, yet John McCain would have placed her within his aging heartbeat of the most powerful office on the planet. That scared a lot of people, including some very smart ones, such as Peggy Noonan, Christopher Buckley, Kathleen Parker, Susan Eisenhower, Colin Powell, Ken Dubenstein, Scott McClellan and David Brookes. Now, either all of those distinguished Republicans aren’t as perceptive as you, or you have an other-worldly image of Sarah Palin. If you think that Palin has the intelligence and skill to end our energy dependence, I have some beachfront property I’d like to sell you up in Alaska. You can see Russia from the kitchen. This is the same person who thinks mankind walked alongside living dinosaurs and wanted to ban books in her local library. I would say that she excels in the pursuit of ignorance and reactionary ideology. You say she’s beautiful. So what? Since when does a pretty face have one single thing to do with the intelligence necessary to understand complex issues and articulate policy? You say she’s kind and approachable, yet this is the same person who was the point-person for the most divisive, deceptive political campaign since Andrew Jackson ran against John Quincy Adams. And that is why so many people are still talking about Palin and expressing contempt for her.

How hard would it have been for anyone to simply say that Sarah Palin wasn’t qualified to be VP, a heart beat away from the Presidency and not vote for the McCain/Palin ticket? The Liberal “destroy those you fear” is a real laugh. From bloggers to Journalists it was as if a fire bomb had hit and everyone was racing to put it out with every means possible. Why were you so afraid of Sarah Palin?
If the Republican ticket was Mike Huckabee and another male right to lifer there wouldn’t have been such fear fueled hate and personal attacks. It is really hilarious how you were so afraid of her.
My guess is that she was a strong, articulate and beautiful woman with a strong family, a loving marriage, who lived her values by not aborting her down syndrome child.
I get the fear of Religion and the need to hold onto atheist beliefs. I get the desire to dismantle the USA and become part of a one world power. I got the 60’s where we espoused love and peace yet greeted the returning soldiers that had been drafted in the Vietnam War as baby killers and how bombing the Capitol was cool.
What I don’t get is why you want American to be Energy Dependent; why you believe that gutting the Military will give us peace; why Robinhood Economics is the way to go and why killing babies at birth protects women’s rights.
I think that this woman, Sarah Palin, embodied the ideal woman - devoted Christian, devoted Wife and Mother, strong, hardworking, intelligent and most of all beautiful with a reputation of being approachable and kind.
I say to you that you are the ones that “have antipathy towards others that are not like them.” All you had to do was vote NO.

Sarah Palin is SMART, PRETTY, a GREAT PUBLIC SPEAKER, STRONG AND BRAVE ... and IGNORANT .. and cannot be considered educated enough for the highest office in the land without the next 4 years devoted to Foreign Affairs, Science, Law, and .... Science, Science and more Science.
Her ignorance of basic Biology and Law were flaws that held her back (she could have at a least been able to know Engel v. Vitale decision of the U.S. Supreme Court, which declared unconstitutional the inclusion of state-sponsored school prayer as a part of instruction in public schools, or MA’s Goodridge v. Mass. Department of Public Health on same-sex marriage—things she is really interested in and the core conservative party would applaud).
I was also turned away by the negativism of her words - she made me think she was talking that different was bad. Is Jewish bad? Are all Muslims bad? No and No! Fear mongering and race-baiting—it was terrible and she made me very very sad. She really turned me away with the ugly attack speeches. She needed to address problems with the world and how the McCain-Palin would address them with confidence and candor. She did not need to go on ranting attacks. She was vicous and ugly to a respectible good very educated man that now has the White House and no deserves my respect as my new Commander-in-Chief.
I would not vote for her and for John McCain for fear that she was not prepared for this office. He has had malignant melanoma 3 times and the incidence of recurrence of this deadly disease is very very high. There is also no way he could possibly run in 4 more years. I could not risk my vote on her.
If she comes back in 2012 and can pass 9th grade Biology ... she might have a chance. First she needs to learn that Fruit Flies are not things to drop off in earmarks as stupid fluff of no use to common citizens as this is a foundation for research in medicine (a foundational tool almost as important as the microscope for research in cancer, all genetics and has paved the way for research into autism and Down’s syndrome - search YouTube for Fruit Fly Palin). Using these tools we can say something other when looking under the microscope than “OOO Pretty ...It looks so Big”. She does not know how the Senate works ... sorry Sarah. Study constitutional government fast. She has not looked at foreign affairs or really worried about what has been going on in the rest of the world—that is my perception. I want a candidate that is educated enough to take on the world as well has who has a moral core. She needs that education—and she needs it fast. Science, science, law, foreign affairs. Sorry she did not have it this time. I do not know if she will open herself up past the small town person and remove that veil of religion to allow herself to fully accept the science she needs to learn.
Glad to see the back of her on the way to AK. Please let her stay there where she can believe the world is 4000 years old. I hope she can leave the Beluga Wale alone finally too [search Palin loses bid to block Beluga whale protection]. When she graduates from Harvard as a Law Professor or does something else other than spew lies and shoot wolves from helicopters on the AK taxpayer’s money ... maybe.

Well, now that the election’s over and my choice has won, here’s a few thoughts I’d like to share with you all:
Ms. Sarah will be back for two reasons:
1) Do you really think, after 8 years of Coup detat rule that the religious right is just going to fold their tents and go away?
2) SP’s ambition, as supported by The Third Wave, knows no bounds and no shortage of money.
If there’s some further research you’d like to do on the cult of personality we have on display with SP:

All those screaming at the thought of ‘more Sarah’ have no concept of the importance of history. Facts are most accurately recorded in the present, even if some distance is needed for analysis. Let us not ignore, lest we be condemned to repeat. I say document, and do so with depth and accuracy, so that future generations will know what happened.
We are now being subjected to a revisionist version of the Reagan years. We mustn’t let that happen again.

What other purpose could Dick Cheney’s Presidential endorsement yesterday serve at this point than to go on the record in a big way in support of Sarah Palin, who is likely to continue to be his and the neo-cons front person for a long time, or so they hope. So that all non French-speaking folks who listened to the prank call to Sarah Palin get a more in-depth enjoyment of it :
1) While FRANK LOUVIER is indeed President Saykozy’s Communications Advisor, JOHNNY HALLIDAY is NOT his Special American Advisor, but rather the French equivalent of, let’s say… Elvis Presley.
The #1 French Rock n’ Roll Star/Actor since the 50’s.
2) During the hunting part of the call, “Sarkozy” says “...on pourrait tuer des bébés phoques” which translates into “...we could kill some baby seals”.
3) Shouldn’t the Governor of Alaska, a State which shares miles and miles of common border with Canada, know that STEVEN HARPER is the Canadian PM?
STEF CARSE is a Canadian Pop/Country singer.
4) As for the PM of Québec, he certainly is NOT RICHARD Z. SIROIS (a Canadian Radio/TV comedian) but JEAN CHAREST.
5) Oh… and the title of the song that CARLA BRUNI-SARKOZY certainly did NOT write about you, Governor Palin, is “Du rouge à lèvres sur une cochonne”
which, thanks to a marvelous double-entendre (do you know what THAT means ?) means both “Lipstick on a sow” and “Lipstick on a slut”.
How about “the DUMMING OF AMERICA”, Governor Palin… do you know what THAT means ?

Sarah Palin’s experience as governor of Alaska is inconsequential. Alaska’s total population is one-twentieth of Illinois’, where Obama was a state legislator and then U.S. senator . Because it feeds at the spigot of the oil companies drilling there, every Alaskan is given a check from the state rather than having to pay any state tax. The primary reason that the Alaskan Independence Party emerged is because a large number of its citizens resented having to pay any federal withholding on their paychecks.
Whatever limited experience Palin has gained over the last two short years as that state’s governor is offset by her utter lack of interest in and knowledge of the complex national and international issues we’re facing today. Ronald Reagan was a two-term governor of a state with nearly 50 times Alaska’s population, and an economy as big as many countries. Because California is the gateway to Asia and has three major ports and two international airports, Reagan was also involved international trade issues, and he often traveled to other countries to develop trade and tourism relationships. To compare Palin’s experience with Ronald Reagan’s is laughable.
Palin’s greatest shortcoming is that her arrogance makes her indifferent to her own limitations. This hubris makes her a person who would be dangerous with any real power. She has showed signs of this during her governorship in Alaska. To say that she has more experience than Obama is not only inaccurate, it also ignores the fact that she lacks the education, both academic and practical, to make informed decisions about almost anything. She’s a former sportscaster at a local television station who knows how to play the flute and wink. And the only thing that she has done in this entire political campaign is divide the country and inspire more partisan hostility than we have seen in decades.
There is no question that relevant experience is an important quality for any leader, but the most important qualities are intellectual competence and the ability to unify rather than divide. Any candidate who says with a straight face that they have foreign policy experience because they could see Russia from an island which they’ve NEVER set foot on should be automatically disqualified from holding national office.

I’ve been trying to understand the uncomfortable feeling I get when watching Sarah Palin speak to an audience. She appears pleasant enough and she shouldn’t be hard to look at but…..
The smirk/grin never leaves her face. Regardless of the seriousness of her words, she has that constant almost smile. And I’ve finally figured out where I’ve seen this before. In highschool. Yes, in those high school student government speeches, where the cheerleader cum class treasurer wannabe is smirking because she knows she’s the hottest twat in the class, and the rest of her class is a bunch of losers that just don’t get it. It doesn’t really matter to her what she is saying, just that she is saying it with all of the confidence her raw ambition and class superiority can bring her. She is the perfect George W. Bush clone. Don’t forget, he lettered in cheer leading. McSame seems committed to continuing the Bush Doctrine, but while Palin doesn’t even know what that is, she’s committed to exuding the Bush Style. Though I doubt she has the genetic credentials, she is channeling that same screw you arrogance and breech no argument rich boy confidence that has the US standing alone on every front.
McSame might ‘get ‘er done’ just like Bush, but Palin will even do it just like Bush. All in all, she is probably the more dangerous, like Shrub probably psychotically dangerous, of the two.

Right now, Sarah Palin is so full of herself that she is speaking publicly about her dissatisfaction with the McCain campaign. My guess is that she will pick up on the “rogue” tag, and wear it just as proudly as McCain wears his “maverick” badge. She also seems to think that nobody remembers the Couric interviews, because she is revising history and claiming that Couric didn’t ask her any relevant questions. She now says she “got frustrated with the interviewer”. Well, anybody who saw those interviews knows that most of Palin’s answers were stunningly incoherent, as if she just didn’t understand the questions. These were questions that wouldn’t permit her to resort to talking points, so they revealed Palin’s inability to think and her pathetic lack of general knowledge. She has proven that she can read a teleprompter and regurgitate talking points at these rallies, but she is an intellectual disaster who is lost without them.
It is going to be very interesting to see how quickly Palin goes from pitbull to poodle when she loses this election and the Republican Party ditches her faster than Usain Bolt. She has been prancing around in the limelight for two months now, and it’s all going to end on November 5th. No more big rallies with adoring, undiscriminating fans. News organizations will have no reason to worry about sounding biased against her, so any subsequent interviews will make the Couric interview look like a FOX News tribute.
What is going to be most interesting will be the concession speeches. How do you give a gracious, unifying speech after having run such a despicable, slanderous campaign? If they believe even half of what they’ve said about Obama in the last month, how can either one of them say they’ll stand behind the new president without sounding like raging hypocrites? In the process of throwing all that mud, McCain and Palin have been digging themselves into a very deep hole since the Republican convention. Watching them trying to climb out of it is going to be better than the final episode of “Survivor”.

I guess I thought it was fortunate when I heard the news that relatively inexperienced and totally unknown Alaska governor Palin was chosen McCain’s runningmate. Good to have Mitt out of the picture, I figured. And then we started to know her. The very first thing I heard was her reply to a reporter’s question about her views on the Iraq War. “I really haven’t thought about it,” was her paraphrased comeback. “Say wha’?” I thought. In everything I’d done since the Bush stolen election of 2000, in every single thing I’ve done, has been the cloud of the Nazicons’ impact hanging over life. Allowing 911 with no one ever calling them out on it, using it as a rallying point to war and the Patriot Act. “How about Ws of MD,” I asked her rhetorically. How about Shock ‘n Awe. Mission Accomplished. IEDs. No armor plating or body armor. “We go to war with what we have, not with what we want.” Saddam’s trial and execution. Sunnis & Shiites, Al Sadr & Al Qaeda. Fallujah and Mosul. Chemical Ali, Jessica Lynch. Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Armitage? Condaleeza and Colin? The Coalition of the Willing, Downing Street Memo, yellowcake, Plame, Libby. Halliburton and Blackwater. How about American young fucken men and American young fucken women being blown high into the air and coming down with no arms or no legs? Comeon, say something. “Ok, I really haven’t thought about it,” she said straight-faced.
And that was it until she showed up at the RNC, and I saw what she looked like, heard her talk. She was smooth, and slick, like she’d always been there. But there was nothing about helping to heal America. Nothing about guiding us out of the cloud that was the Nazicon legacy. “You know the difference between a community organizer and the mayor of a small town?” she asked. “A mayor actually has responsibility for something.” And in just a few moments I’d had enough of the face, the shrill voice, the ugliness of the mocking and the cheering. I did catch that she was a maverick and a fiscal conservative, just like John here, and of course, a Christian. She’d left her little town in better shape than when she started as mayor; she brought them a sports arena, after all. As governor she took on the oil companies, and she won. She didn’t think polar bears were endangered, and she had the environmental studies to prove it. Man is not responsible for global warming. It doesn’t matter if he is or is not. And I heard her say how she told them, “Thanks. But no thanks,” to that most famous bridge that had been the big joke in congress for the longest time. How McCain had used that bridge to nowhere. And how in the world had he come upon, and chosen, the joker in the middle of it all?
Later we would hear that she never abused her power as either governor, nor before as the mayor of her little town. Never tried to ban books or fire a librarian, never knew anything about rape victims and rape kits, never had arena cost-overruns and never received a free new house built by the contractor. Never harrassed nor tried to get a state trooper fired, never had petty, vengeful alterior motives for firing the man called Monegan. She’d fired her predecessor’s personal chef, and sold his personal jet on EBay, at a profit. So in spite of everything that was done to keep her away from the press, and us, we’d learned all this about Sarah, and more. We learned that it was all lies. The great speech at the RNC? Lies. All of it. The books and the librarian and the arena and the house, Troopergate and Monegan, that bridge and the chef and the jet? Yup. Even the oil companies and the polar bears. The fiscal conservative, the maverick, the Christian.

I think Sarah Palin, in her ambitious self-absorption, sees herself as superior to John McCain. She’s younger, easier to look at, more popular, and she has the Republican Party base in her handbag. But she is going to be in for a rude awakening. If, by some miracle, John McCain wins the election, he’ll be stuck with Palin for the next four years, assuming he lives out his term. Palin is an aggressive, obnoxiously ambitious, self-promoter, and she would be nipping at McCain’s heels from the Oval Office to the Rose Garden. Todd will be there, too. Palin knows that McCain would be a one-term president because he’ll be a very old and beat up 77 by the time he started a second term. That would leave her as the default presidential nominee in 2012. But there is no way that the Republican Party is going to allow her to gain that position because it would tear the party apart. If the GOP wants to remain a viable political party in the coming years, it is going to have to regroup, re-prioritize, and re-think its platform. And whatever plan Republicans come up with, you can bet Palin won’t be part of it.

If you are serious, McCain did not select Condelize Rice, because she is educated and smart, plus she may be conceived as uppity to McCain. Do not know if McCain is a racist, but he does use it as a tool. It would be harder to be bashing Obama, using code racism with Rice on his ticket.

CAMPAIGN DRESSING
Big issue: McCain campaign spent $150,000 on clothes for VP nominee Sarah Palin, purchased at high end stores. Big deal. How does this differ from buying campaign signs, or installing Greek style columns? On the one hand, I’m glad to have the McCain campaign impeded by a phony issue. However, distractions such as this and the William Ayres terrorist implication and the Acorn foolishness have no place in in serious campaigns.
And, in this case, buying the clothes for Palin is clearly relevant and proper since she is mainly a campaign decoration.
PALIN FLAP
Chris Matthews and others have been bashing VP candidate Sarah Palin for her view of the role of the vice president. In response to a question from a 3rd grader, she said, among other things, that the VP is in charge of the Senate and can promote policies there that will improve our nation.
The pundits keep pointing out that, under the Constitution, the vice president’s role is only to succeed the president if necessary and to preside over the Senate, voting only to break any tie.
Has no one heard of Dick Cheney? He has demonstrated that the VP job can include running the White House, monitoring the CIA, firing Justice Department lawyers, promoting the use of torture, and starting wars in the Middle East.

I’m amazed that even the MSM doesn’t report on the books that Mayor Palin wanted banned from the public library. This is from National Women’s Political Caucus, SFV, Newsletter, Sept - Oct. ‘08. “...When she was Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska she tried to get the local library to bad 69 books! Including Brave New World by A. When the Librarian refused to ban the books, Palin tried to get her fired.”
I think we’ve all heard about Palin trying to fire the Librarian, but I was amazed to find out exactly what books she was so afraid of. I had read somewhere that it was simply a children’s book about a same sex couple raising a family.
Banning books is perhaps one of the most anti-American activities any politician can be involved in, and yet, here again, this is not reported in the MSM.

John McCain was a high-strung young man long before he disappointed his father, Admiral John McCain Jr., with his dismal academic performance at the Naval Academy. Graduating 894th in his class of 899 midshipmen made him a man with something to prove. His short, stocky frame was well-suited to the cramped cockpit of a jet fighter, but it didn’t help him live up to the imposing image he needed, so he over-compensated by being physically tough and taking risks, especially when he flew. At the Academy, he had been a boxer and wrestler who was often in trouble with superior officers. When you put this kind of A-type personality into cruel captivity for five years, take away all of his dignity and torture him into betraying his country’s Code of Conduct, it’s going to do some serious psychological damage that doesn’t just go away. In my opinion, McCain shows all the symptoms of someone suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. His manic body language, with constantly clinched fists and jutting thumbs, rapidly blinking eyes, tightly clinched jaw and grimace-like smile are physical manifestations of psychological issues. McCain had a well-earned reputation in the Senate for being ill-tempered and profane, and his inability to control his emotions was painfully evident in the last debate. In the last five years, McCain has also been faced with battling a lethal form of skin cancer, which cannot help but add to his stress levels. It is my belief that John McCain’s erratic choices during his campaign have been an expression of his emotional duress. Even some of his long-time supporters have described him as being “tightly coiled.” Whether you’re a Republican, Democrat or Independent, you have to be somewhat concerned about a man with these issues being put in charge of our country at such a fragile time. Yes, John McCain is a fighter. The problem is that he has been fighting all his life and doesn’t know when to stop.

You lose again troubled bert. Three books later, and a full tour of all 50 states, (and many more than once) we know more about Barak, his wife, his parents, his siblings, and for SURE his early years in Chicago, than we’ve ever known about a single other presidential candidate.
He couldn’t BE any more forthcoming. Maybe you should just read what he’s put out there, and check in on the mountains of recorded documents that have become a part of the record wherever he’s been.

READ THIS CAREFULLY
So is the plan of Sarah Palin, a supporter and backer of the Alaska Independence Party (AIP), to wheel and deal her way into having Alaska become Independent of the United States and declare themselves a Sovereign Nation!!!
While Sarah points fingers at Barack Obama and his relative bleak relationship with Ayers, accusing him of “Palling around with a terrorist”, she has hesitated to tell us about her GRAND PLAN and ULTERIOR MOTIVES.
Sarah Palin in the last year, along with her card caring member husband Todd Palin, was a featured speaker for the AIP, in which she said “Keep up the good work”. Well, exactly what is the founding and goals of the AIP. The website ( http://www.akip.org/ ) spells the matter out very plainly on the homepage:
___________________________________________________________ _________________
The Alaskan Independence Party’s goal is the vote we were entitled to in 1958, one choice from among the following four alternatives:
1) Remain a Territory.
2) Become a separate and Independent Nation.
3) Accept Commonwealth status.
4) Become a State.
The call for this vote is in furtherance of the dream of the Alaskan Independence Party’s founding father, Joe Vogler, which was for Alaskans to achieve independence under a minimal government, fully responsive to the people, promoting a peaceful and lawful means of resolving differences.
___________________________________________________________ __________________
Basically, the comment that Sarah Palin made during her debate with Biden, regarding the increased power of the Vice President’s role in the Senate via the US Constitution is becoming increasingly clear. While the Constitution provides no more such authority, it appears that she may intend to at least try and overthrow our Country in some manner and declare Alaska as an Independent Nation. The pieces are starting to fit together slowly. This is also called “Treason” and is punishable by the Death Penalty. While they promote a lawful means, it would certainly help to have ‘Good Ol Sarah’ pushing the measure through and turning her State into a Nation of her own. Quietly overthrown the US and forget about all the money that the other 49 States have paid into the development of Alaska.
Let’s take a look at the founder of AIP, Joe Vogler, who was murdered shortly after his beginning attempts to try and have Alaska become Independent from the US. A true patriot of the US Government, Joe Vogler made the following remarks in 1991 in an interview which is now housed in the Oral History Program in the Rasmuson Library at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
“The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government,” Vogler said in the interview, in which he talked extensively about his desire for Alaskan secession, the key goal of the AIP.
“And I won’t be buried under their damn flag,” Vogler continued in the interview, which also touched on his disappointment with the American judicial system. “I’ll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home.”
Volger also advocated renouncing allegiance to the United States. “And then you get mad. And you say, the hell with them. And you renounce allegiance, and you pledge your efforts, your effects, your honor, your life to Alaska.”
AFTER these comments, Todd signed up and became a card carrying member and Sarah started attending their conventions. In fact she addressed their convention this past March.
There you have it folks, Sarah and Todd Palin support having Alaska as an Independent Nation, advocate a party and founder who renounces allegiance to the United States. If that does not sound like an overthrow and treason, I just don’t know what does!
Seems Sarah pals around with people who don’t want to be a part of the United States and have renounced their allegiance.

What the Troopergate Report Really Says
“But even though she won’t likely face any legal repercussions, the amateurism and cronyism of her brief administration hardly leaves Palin sitting pretty. Troopergate’s final verdict may be even more damaging than a rebuke: her administration was, at least this regard, just as self-motivated as the Washington fat cats and lobbyists she hopes to unseat.”

You should especially look at the first vid about Troopergate. They have found a video of Palin lying about Troopergate. This story has not been covered by the national news media or the alternative media yet -
http://dailysource.org/special/palin/146
It has the potential to be a gigantic story because it shows her lying about her reason for firing the chief of the state police and whether she"s lying or not is at the heart of the whole probe. It’s archival video from a local TV station in Alaska and has not been seen by anyone outside of Alaska - and it won’t unless word spreads of it
Their site has only been live for a few months and this key vid won’t get seen by hardly anyone unless it spreads.

Report thisThe notion of both Obama and McCain that Russia can be “punished” by our “energy independence” because prices of crude oil would then plunge is the acme of irresponsible idiocy. To name just one country that will not allow this to happen ever: Saudi Arabia. They will just throttle their output to keep prices high which will benefit their overloaded fields anyway.
By dihey, October 8 at 8:49 am #
Judging from the nonsense that McCain/Palin spout about the oil industry it is certain that they have not read “The Prize” or “Twilight in the Desert” to mention just two seminal works on the topic at hand. What Palin is doing is obvious. She is preparing the groundwork for the next gubernatorial election so that she can brag: “I fought for Alaska during the Presidential campaign!”
Report thisObama/Biden are just as much at sea. They share with McCain/Palin the nonsense that 700 billion dollars is transferred every year to countries “that hate us.” Guess what, the two countries that sell us most of the imported crude are our deadly enemies Canada and Mexico!

I’m a retired codger and have been a registered, voting Republican for 51 years -until this year. I’ve registered democrat, and Palin is just one of the biggest reasons. Actually there is a long list of reasons, but Democrats should not feel smug; many of the reasons for my concern regarding the future of our democracy are shared by both parties. Both are corrupted by corporate influence, both employ revisionist history and both pander to so-called “christian” radicals who have no more place in the pulpit than the cancer they truly are in America. Palin is the poster child for the pathology in our politics and citizens MUST wake up, get smart on key issues, and act energetically or we’re going to squander our last opportunity to realize the vision of our Founders. What an unspeakable waste!

Dear All,
In regard to the glasses…
I’m pissed that Palin would do this thing with the glasses, in part because I’ve ALWAYS hated phonies, but more than that, because by now, (11 years older than Palin) I actually NEED them, and can’t afford them. (no..doesn’t matter that I’ve worked my ass off for years, and supposedly have medicare...it doesn’t cover astigmatism)I don’t CARE about being ‘cute’, (since I already am, without the assistance) or ‘looking smart’. I don’t need glasses to ‘look’ smart, because I AM smart. (age, experience, and education help).
So, I’ll make ya’ll a deal. I will continue to invest in US, (that would be OUR country and OUR future..which means OUR youth) if you guys just find a way for me to get a new pair of glasses. That’s all I ask. If they make my green eyes look better, so be it. I only care that I can SEE better, to share the view.

BTW...Sarah Palin can kiss my ass. I’d beat her hands down in ANY contest, but I’m leaving that up to our future generation of leaders...Barack Obama, with the guidance of the rest of us…

“But watching Palin’s speech I had no doubt that I was witnessing a historic, iconic performance. The candidate sauntered to the lectern with the assurance of a sleepwalker – And immediately launched into a symphony of snorting and sneering remarks, taking time out in between the superior invective to present herself as just a humble gal with a beefcake husband and a brood of healthy, combat-ready spawn who just happened to be innocent targets of a communist and probably also homosexual media conspiracy. She appeared to be completely without shame and utterly full of shit, awing a room full of hardened reporters with her sickly sweet line about the high-school-flame-turned-hubby who “Five children later” is “Still my guy.” It was like watching Gidget address the Reichstag.”

It’s true that near-sighted lenses show the face line inset from the actual face line. And that far-sighted lenses outset the face lines. However, to be fair, astigmatism can be determined only by rotating the glasses and watching for image distortions… I’ll let you decide if the image distortions are Sarah’s external persona or her internal ocular.

If you look at the photos at:

it makes a convincing case that the lenses in her eyeglasses have no corrective
power (it is possible to deduce this from photographs), so it’s clear that she is
wearing them for purely cosmetic reasons. As you say, to “look smarter”.
By cyrena, October 6 at 10:29 pm #
bassbam,
A poster from Alaska mentioned the thing with the glasses just after Palin was unveiled. He said that they had the same eye doctor, and that he knew she didn’t need glasses, and that she only wore them to ‘look smarter’.
Then some other poster (not Alaskan, and as unknown as palin) came along to say that he’d seen photos of her as a child, and she had them then. That would apppear to be a lie, or maybe this poster was just ‘special’ because none of the photos of her as a college student show her with glasses.
So, let’s just admit it. She thought they would make her ‘look smarter’ and it doesn’t work, because she is NOT smart, and that’s that. She could put on 10 pairs, and it isn’t going to raise her IQ.
