Of course Nixon was a radical leftist. He took us off the gold standard and enacted price and wage controls.
But what is left and right? Unions vs corporate management? I really don’t know, anymore. The only thing I do know, is the only true Left, is the “Old Left”. The individual anarchists. Democrats and Republicans are statists. Individual anarchism is the next logical step for the 60s “revolutionaries”. The anti-war movement, became statists. Statism promotes war. War is a natural function of statism. It always has been, and always will be. The government has the guns, the soldiers, and the prisons. What else do think they would do other than use those “tools” to wage war? Plant daisies?

We’re fighting 2 wars (anti-peace)
It would take 1 peace movement to stop the wars (think f-you to Vietnam war)
Where the fuck is ANY peace movement today?
Limp dick America.
TV-glued red, white and blue pom-pom wavers turned yellow-backed lemmings.
Can you hear Fish now?

@Fat Freddy
Report thisI maintain it’s not the left which has become the lackies of the corp mentality so reviled in the ‘60’s, it’s the Democrats (it always was the Repubs, but now the Demos have joined them in lockstep, with few exceptions).
The ‘Left’ is still there, it’s just so far to the left now that it’s almost out of sight. The irony is it hasn’t moved left, the nation (and that’s the Dems and the Reps) has moved way to the right so that the middle/center now is far to the right of Goldwater. Nixon would appear today to be a radical lefty socialist.

The only movement that is worth mounting in opposition to the war(s) is one that is capable of drawing real criticism from the corporate-run media
What? Like the Ron Paul movement? They are just a bunch of Tea Baggers, and Koch funded libertarians, right? I haven’t heard or read the word “blowback” from any left-liberal publication or commentator.
I remember when being anti-authoritarian, pro-dignity and pro-freedom were values of the progressive left. The tables have turned. The left no longer has the “moral high-ground”. They have, in fact, become the authoritarians that were despised during the 60s revolution.

I just wanted to note, the thumb in the 1st illustration is way too long, it just looks out of proportion to the other digits.

Mr Fish
Could not agree more. Fuck the so called “peace movement.” It has been
discredited as being an “oppose Bushes wars” but Obama and the Dems “not so
much.” Well Ok, maybe a plantative plea of begging Obama and the Dems to
“do what is right.”
When you ask them what to do is the Dems do not follow your pleas, you get a
look like a deer in the headlights. Then another plantative plea. Or here, sign
THIS strongly worded petition.
I speak from long, bitter experience in Minnesota. It is a sad, pathetic joke.
Even when the “peace movement” leaders are swept up in FBI raids, ordered by
AG Holder, under the direct orders of president Oily Bomber.
To show just how pathetic the peace movement is, look at Texas last week.
At the Bush library opening there was a “protest rally.” Speaking was Code Stink
, I mean Code Pink founder Medea Benjamin, Colleen Rawley (who I know
personally) and some local Democrat elected official.
Present in the crowd but not allowed to speak was
Cindy Sheehan.
THAT is just how pathetic the “we support Democrat wars” so called “peace
movement” is.
What we need is a democracy movement.
Here in the US.

Thank you, Mr. Fish. While I was trying to think of a
response to gerard’s comment, you came along and did it
far better than I could have.
There is no peace movement in America.

With all due respect, Gerard, fuck the so-called peace movement that you pity. The only movement that is worth mounting in opposition to the war(s) is one that is capable of drawing real criticism from the corporate-run media, not one that seeks its approval and support. Maybe you can help me with my memory of history, but I’m having trouble remembering if it was Coca-Cola or Visa who provided sponsorship to the Civil Rights Movement. And surveillance? What the hell are you talking about? A real dissident isn’t doing his job unless he’s got an FBI file that his lynch mob can be proud of. I agree with you on one point - the cartoon isn’t funny. Not even a little bit.

This time not funny, Fish. Kicking the “peace movement” when it is down is not up to your usual standards. The corporation-run media and the insanely overblown “surveillance” gave “the finger” to it in no uncertain terms. It was impossible to fight back with inadequate support and no funding.
Report thisThanks anyway.

You are fighting a lot more than two wars. Americans
seem to be the only people in the world that don’t know
about the American murders in Pakistan, Yemen, etc.
