New and Improved Comments

We are launching a major overhaul of our comments section.

In addition to more robust spam filtering and moderation, new features include the ability to rate other comments, sort how they are displayed and respond directly via e-mail or in a thread.

Unfortunately, commenters will lose their existing Truthdig identities. It's a pain, we know, but on the plus side you will now be able to log in with a plethora of options, including Google, Twitter, Facebook and Disqus accounts.

Before launching this system we spent months in discussion with our top commenters. We listened to the feedback and we hope you like what we've come up with.

Please direct any problems or concerns to us via our contact page.

Napolean - Irrelevant.

If every human being enjoyed a standard of living equivalent to the average American, the energy consumption alone would far exceed any imaginable production level.  And the same would be true for other resources.

Global GDP would have to increase beyond anything we are capable of to achieve a decent standard of living for everyone.  And the earth would be scorched and plundered beyond recognition in the process.

Mr. Fish,

I can almost relate to that which you are suggesting, however, democracy, like all other organizations, it seems, is all about democracy, about the survival of the system;  and, consequently, you and i, be only fodder for it’s well being, and around only insofar as we remain useful to that it’s objective.

I just watched “Meet The Press” this morning for the first time in a while, after not paying any attention to the mainstream news for over six months now. In the mean time, I have started turning on my own. The mainstream political narrative is easy enough to pick apart and criticize, you might even say it is criminally easy (I don’t know why you would say such a stupid thing… how is it criminal???).

I really want to ignore it all and pursue my own interests exclusively, but…

That is what I am thinking about out there in the desert.

Statistically, every human being now living can fit on the continent of Australia with four people per acre… and the rest of the world can be harvested to feed them…

So… think about it and think if truly there is an overpopulation issue or if it simply fear mongering and selfishness on the part of the hegemonic class of the world.

A democracy that allows and promotes the human species to multiply until all the
planets resources are consumed or screwed up. Humanity needs a minder, pick
your poison.

Stylistically, Mr Fish’s cartoons vary incredibly.  I wonder why.
