Advertisement New and Improved CommentsWe are launching a major overhaul of our comments section. In addition to more robust spam filtering and moderation, new features include the ability to rate other comments, sort how they are displayed and respond directly via e-mail or in a thread. Unfortunately, commenters will lose their existing Truthdig identities. It's a pain, we know, but on the plus side you will now be able to log in with a plethora of options, including Google, Twitter, Facebook and Disqus accounts. Before launching this system we spent months in discussion with our top commenters. We listened to the feedback and we hope you like what we've come up with. Please direct any problems or concerns to us via our contact page. |

In spite of the Fox Noise jingoistic nonsense, the US is sinking in many ways: poverty rate going up, manufacturing base lost to foreign countries, innovation structure ruptured, and obstructionist who care for themselves more than our country. Our decline will come even before global warming does in the world.

I sincerely believe that Obama had all of right intentions as he was going into office. Of course, all of that changed the day Obama “Mr. president-elect” officially became Obama “Mr. President of USA.” After his inauguration, some very powerful individuals took him to an undisclosed backroom where they firmly grabbed the president by the nuts and, like in any classic mobster movie, demanded that he only answer to them. When you watch the president closely on television, you can tell that he’s speaking to two different audiences: the corporate interests who (literally) own him, on the one hand, and the general public who he only wishes he could help, on the other hand.

He didn’t kill it, he just mugged it. Somebody else will come along pick it up and mug it again. That’s the American way.
