Advertisement New and Improved CommentsWe are launching a major overhaul of our comments section. In addition to more robust spam filtering and moderation, new features include the ability to rate other comments, sort how they are displayed and respond directly via e-mail or in a thread. Unfortunately, commenters will lose their existing Truthdig identities. It's a pain, we know, but on the plus side you will now be able to log in with a plethora of options, including Google, Twitter, Facebook and Disqus accounts. Before launching this system we spent months in discussion with our top commenters. We listened to the feedback and we hope you like what we've come up with. Please direct any problems or concerns to us via our contact page. |

I can not help but compare Americas response to Hurricane Katrina and New Zealands response to the earthquake ...thank god I live in New Zealand ...only 4 million of us and no policeman killed any victims ,the Government responded in minutes not weeks ,victims are being feed ,victims are being housed , victims are given free bottled gas for cooking, victims are given free drinking water ,victims are treated like family ...that sums it up ,we (new zealanders) know it could have been any of us ,living anywhere .So we react like we want people to react if it happens to us !18,000 students have already converged on Christchurch with shovels to clean up the wreckage, thousands of hot meals are being helicoptered into isolated areas daily (for free) and all I can say is “thank god I live in New Zealand ” ! superpower ,yea right .‘cause words mean nothing if actions don’t follow.” New Zealand the worlds newest Super Power.
