The cartoon is basically saying, “From both extremes, the fanatics condemn the Great Speech, so Obama must be doing something right” — but the artwork falsifies the situation.
The two characters are supposed to represent the mutually hostile extremes, whose fathomless hatred for each other is the root of the problem.
Well, Lubovich, who always shields dear little Israel, obviously should have put Netanyahu on the right. But we can’t make it look like Israel is at the root of the problem, can we? The truth has a dangerous anti-Semitic bias.
Well, the truth is that Israel actually hated the Great Speech more than Osama bin Laden did.
I repeat, Israelis reacted more negatively to the Obama’s Cairo speech than did “the Muslim world”. Arabs and Muslims mostly like the speech itself, but doubted whether US actions would match the words.
On the other hand, the Israelis, both government and “Jew on the street”, trashed the actual speech, to the extent that it required anything of them.
As usual, the screeching, mangy hag-bird known as Zionism vomits and shts all over anything remotely resembling justice:
New item: Israel Rejects Appeals in Obama’s Speech
Settlement Construction to Continue
Yesterday President Obama delivered his historic speech to the Muslim world, calling for an independent Palestinian state and calling on Israel once again to halt the growth of its West Bank settlements. Today, Israeli officials say they will ignore the appeals, and continue on with the policy of settlement growth.
RE: Brilliant!! I’d add Fox News with a thumbs down.
Add Black Water for the perfect team: a patsy, a mole, a professional executioner and useful media fool, yes FAUX NEWS - if Biden’s prediction is right, and we get another false-flag provocation a few months down the road, don’t look to the patsy, follow the mole and his money trail, back to the executioner’s lair, as likely as anywhere, Black Water HQ.
It’s unfair to Osama Bin Laden to team him up with a liar of Cheneys stature.
As initially interviewed by Pak journalists immediately after 9/11 OBL stated:
“I stress that I have not carried out this act, which appears to have been carried out by individuals with their own motivation… I have already said that I am not involved in the 11 September attacks in the United States… I had no knowledge of these attacks…”
Whether or not the US public is aware of OBL’s stature amongst his people, he didn’t attain it by lying. Cheney did.
Let’s rephrase Obama’s speech, shall we…
Please keep buying and don’t sell our Treasury Bills.
Please keep trading oil for Federal Reserve Notes, so we can maintain petro-dollar hegemony.
BTW, do you see that US military base in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Afghanistan, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan?
Yeah, that one with all the missiles, tanks, planes and soldiers, not to mention the aircraft carriers and US Navy in the Arabian Sea, Red Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf, Caspian Sea, and Black Sea.
Do what I say or Zbig, my puppet master, will use me to blow your country to smithereens all in the name of “fighting terrorism.”
It’s already been said in the comments below, but once again Luckovich cannot pull the wool over his eyes. Obama is following in Bush’s footsteps but using different rhetoric. Sure he is closing Guantanamo (where conditions have actually worsened), but he is expanding Bagram. Sure, he is very slowly withrawing from Iraq (not really), but he is expanding war in Afghanistan and Pakistan. As long as he uses the right rhetoric, all the phony “liberals” in US can feel good about themselves and ignore the fact that he is doing nothing new. Once again, shame on you Luckovich.
The usual pseudo-left comment, implying that anyone who thinks Obama’s speech in the US despotic puppets state is either a supporter of Osama or Cheney. His speech actually fixed American policy for the remainder of his term on the rebranded War on Terrorism, legitimated by vacuous public relations generalizations and fake good intentions.
Gee, you wouldn’t think there’d been a hateful Israeli reaction to the speech, now would you?
