“Bombing to achieve peace”—sound familiar to anyone?
This is the lasting damage that Dubya (and the entire Congress) has done to our standing in the world…dont you hear them parrot US leaders?
Our “moral standing’ is f*cked!
Can you imagine trying to tell anyone else to make “peace’—after Iraq, Afghanistran, Gaza,( which we pay for)and all the Geneva Convention statues we have broken? I do think that the US could stop Israel—but I dont think that they will.
No one else in the world is standing by this.
US pretends that they can do this and then pretend that they “hate us for freedom” or “wealth” (LOL!!) or something…

HOw DARE the IDF bomb a UN SCHOOL, becuase “it had weapons in it”—which I have not seen proof that there were.
Even if there were, it can hardly be being said as “tryng to avoid casualities”! They just know that the big, bad US will back them up—what happens when we are no longer respected, due to both of our giant war machines?
The commanders of the IDF must be insane…

Israel needs to stop breeding the “terrorists” that they “supposedly want”! Their lies about the necessity of bombing Gaza until Hamas is rejected is ludicrous, and is akin to blowing smoke up our a—! It boggles the mind that the Israelis feel it is their right to disenfranchise a population, control the coming and going in ghettos that Israel has decided where the people live, control the access to food and medication, let alone fuel - and anytime Israel “feels threatened” they cut off supplies! Yet they are offended by the lack of submission by the Palestinian people to Israels wishes, hmmmmm!
Can you spell hypocrisy? Can you spell double standard? Can we dare say - cut off all aid to Israel, until they can come to the negotiating table in good faith and are willing to be fair! Can we say the US needs to stop blindly backing the bullying of Israel! Can we call a halt to the Holocaust that Israel is committing against the Palestinian people, NOW!!!

TD truthers are getting better at seeing through the deception of faux-progressives like Truthdig. the purpose of mainstrream progressive leaders is to lead the progressive population to support conservative policies.
The Israel invasion is intended to destroy Hamas, kill its leaders and activists, and terrorize the Gazan population to install thier US funded puppets, Abbas and Fatah. This is known to the mainstream media who keeps the population clueless and deluded as long as possible. It is good to see that most TD truthers are not deceived.

This cartoon is not mine. I agree with your criticism of the image’s sloppy logic.

Such precious even-handedness. Betcha in two centuries the evil of Israel and it’s war crimes will still be infamous. Hamas will be a mere historical footnote.
Divest all things Israeli. No U.S. foreign aid to Israel.

America refuses to realize that Israel is fighting the same war we are; only difference is, they have been fighting it longer. Their would be fewer civilian casualties if Hamas would quit hiding behind the population in Gaza. As far as the one gentlemen said that Israel were occupiers, well that’s wrong in so many ways. Except to say that the Palestinians have a homeland…Its called Jordan.

For many years in Palestine Jews and Muslims are eager and determined to kill each other, motivated to do so out of their religious convictions and teachings.

Sorry Mr. Fish! To place Israel and Hamas on the same level of evil is in itself part of the problem that reflects ignorance about the conflict and its roots!
The Israelis are invaders and occupiers while the Palestinians of Gaza are invaded occupied, defending their little piece of land sovereignty by all means possible.
To equate the victim with the victimized is indeed a great disservice to basic decency and human rights!
Report thisBy RdV, January 6 at 9:51 am #
No—the Western press increasingly isn’t getting away with portraying Israel as the innocent victim so they have to promote the perception that both Israel and Hamas are equally bad. Hamas may not be the evil terrorist we are indoctrinated to view them as without question. Hamas won in a Democratic election and provides social services for the impoverished Palestinians. In Palestine, they may be viewed as a force against the occupying power as opposed to the corrupt and manipulated PLO. Hamas did not break the ceasefire, Israel did—but you won’t read that in the Zionist US media. Hamas is willing to recognize the state of Israel at the 1967 borders—but you won’t read that in the Zionist US media. All of our politicians line up to kiss the ring of AIPAC so of course there is no discussion of the amount of US taxpayer dollars funnelled to Israel.
Report thisThis is dangerous information, if the people of the US knew and, like in pre WW2 Germany, the economy continues to unravel—even with Obams chicken-in-every-pot schemes the blowback could be history repeating itself.

The cartoon suggests a false comparison between Hamas and the Israeli forces of occupation. From June 20, the beginning of the negotiated lull, Hamas fired not one rocket or mortar until November 6, the day after an Israel terrorist squad infiltrated Gaza and killed six Hamas soldiers. Meanwhile, Israel repeatedly violated the lull by starving Gaza. Since Israel destroyed the truce, Hamas has called repeatedly for a mutual end to the violence, including the quiet violence of terror famines. Who’s the vulture? Who’s the terrorist?

It took a Canadian paper to tell the truth about this conflict:
Get this: THERE ARE TWO BAD GUYS FIGHTING HERE. And civilians, on both sides, are caught in the middle.

Why the foolish and stupid cartoon. Israel and Hamas are not birds of the same feather and to place some kind of pseudo ‘moral equivalency’ to the conflict is just parroting mainstream propaganda. Truthdig should know better.
