Although hope springs eternal, mine could use some Viagra right about now. Why? When things were beginning to look so…not that bad.(visualize head in hands long gutteral sigh). Now what?I thought about how Barack Obama’s win was speading throughout the country, kind of like when you see the wave at the game on sunday except when the word came over the loud speakers “Hillary Clinton tapped as sec.of state by Pres.Elect Obama” that wave stopped dead in it’s tracks and the whole stadium(or country)uttered a collective"Huh,wha?”.I know Bill Clinton is a Rhodes scholar and Hillary is an effective senator. But all the baggage and outside influence that follows the Clintons.Personally I don’t see this helping unity at all.If Pres. Elect Obama is going to be successful at cleaning up the Bush admin’s.disaster he’s going to need those of the Palin intellect in Congress to get the job done.Should Pres. Elect Obama try to jam the Clintons down thier virgin throats I feel this will drive the Religulous Right back to thier mega-churches to take up sword-crosses and pray for strenght from imaginary super heroes to smite those evil doers from the 90’s and the last thing this county needs is the palin intellect to take more of a grip on these impressionable sheeple. We must come to terms with the fact that some among us do not have the capacity to be objective about the Clintons. They have had a lifetime of wednesday bible studies and sunday services along with hours and hours of fake news broadcasts that simply shocked and awed thier objectivity into the heavens. The mess that this nation finds itself in is going to require the participation of ALL it’s citizens if we are going to restore this countries position and reputation for fairness and freedom. The catastrophy that is the housing market if adressed correctly is going to call for the compassion of every man and woman who would call themselves patriotic.I heard a six year old grade student say when asked “what is patriotism"she answered"taking care of America” this should be placed on billboards throughout the country because if we the people of the United States, the bankers and working masses do not show our true heart for those among us who are struggling through this crisis if those who now have the priveledge of being successful in this country can stand up and place themselves in a position to help lift up those who do not have.If those who make the decisions that can make or break someone of meager means can be the true patriot and help thier fellow American ride out this economic perfect storm this nation will die and become the third world country that normally would be recieving our aid except there will be no one to help us.Think with your heart today your head will thank you tommorrow.

I’m not saying there isn’t cause for some concern, but lets fact it if Obama is to hit the ground running (does he have another option?) he must surround himself with those who know how the system works from the inside out. We can’t afford for a bunch of newbies fresh from outside DC to step in and tackle the monumental problems we face. During the election O showed himself to be his own man and if these folks don’t do it his way they’ll be gone in short order.
I’m taking a wait and see attitude before I start complaining.

The pic isn’t funny, not cool, simply a losers endless drivel over a beloved president who’s a Rhodes Scholar and has a highly intelligent wife, both of whom, have devoted their lives to public service-

Where are the pics of Bush I’s long time mistress?

The endless baiting and obsessive trashng of the Clinton’s is a national disgrace.

It is obvious that Arius is a Clinton supporter, and states that Obama “STOLE the nomination from a Clinton”, then adds that he got elected because “a zombie like nation of voters”.

And so one must ask, aren’t those qwho voted for Clinton instead also zombies, or what?

It is obvious that Obama is not all Clintons, he has some bush in him too.
As the left blinder is way to the right of the center and the right blinder by the sheeples ear, is it any wonder we are trekking in circles.

One thing I have learned from financial markets is that by the time you have complete information you have lost a lot of money. Unfortunately I cannot unload Obama like a junior Canadian miner. But from the incomplete information I do have I do not like how the picture is filling out so far.

I did go over the line with the KKK s**t. I may had been better to make the direct connection to disgust.

I agree Mr Fish has talent with art and satire. IMHO, this is WAY over the top connection/comparison of Clinton politics and personal behavior.

Bill has been both under and over rated for many things. One of them is moral indiscretion.

Really though, can’t we at least wait until Obama has tab A in foreign slot B before we make this comparison?

Let’s at least get him sworn in before we attribute the “Clinton 3rd term” tag.”

Until and IF Obama demonstrates a void of morals and his marital vows you ought to be able to discern between satire and disgust. This is disgusting comparable to KKK hate speech.

The art of metaphor is Mr. Fish’s talent. I see the cartoon as portraying the third Clinton administration. Meanwhile I must return to the closet to find my missing hood and robe.

You seem to have low esteem for President elect Obama. I cannot think of 1 reason Obama would deserve this treatment. You have stepped over the line Mr Fish.

This is baseless at the minimum and over the top crude to say it politely.

I’ve been registered here for quite some time and I usually enjoy Truthdig and your work in particular. No, not just because you’ve spent time attacking Bush but you seemed to have a modicum view of right vs. wrong. I can’t say that any longer.

Go back to the drawing board. Divanation is not your strong point. That is left to Fox News…

Wow! The Clintonite sheep are really getting worked up over this cartoon!

The ultimate insult is Hilary as Secretary of State.

As for the argument of experience, Bush Jr. also got many “experienced” people, and what did it do? The fact is when peiople say “experience’ they really mean “Washington-politics” experience, not policy experience.

There are lots of people who have innovative ideas, and I’m sure many can be found already in varioud minor government positions, but instead Obama is bringing big names from the Clinton era.

What a disgusting low blow the picture is.

As a liberal independent who is NOT a fan of Obambi in any form, may I remind you of all the sexcapades of many past presidents? Including the 1st Pres Bush who had a long time girlfriend on the side? Then there’s Pres Kennedy and his sexcapades with many women.

Obama has no experience, no resume, no qualifications for being president. So after he STOLE the nomination from a Clinton, then took the presidency due to a zombie like nation of voters (with no brain ability, no civics, no knowledge of anything regarding politics and gov that would make them a worthy voter-),,,  he either had the good sense, or the good advice of others to bring in people who really are qualified and are best at possibly handling this national crisis we are in, thus he takes the nomination through corruption from a Clinton, then uses all of Clinton’s presidency skills and people to form his own administration.

Sobeit- at least I feel more comfortable with these people overseeing the mess ahead than I would be with newbies in the White House…. it already sends a shiver down my spine that the likes of David Axelrod will have free reign over national issues, secrets and walking the halls of the White HOuse.

On the other side it will be humorous to watch the imbecile obama bots get a good look at the bullshit Obama sold them on “change” and “hope”-

As for the picture that decision shows your mentality and lack of depth, lack of a life, that you would even resort to such a low blow.  Bill Clinton like most humans was a flawed man with a twitch for the ladies.. and he had the charisma to draw them in… are you jealous of that?  This issue of Monica and any sexcapades are between he and his wife and I for one hope she broke a couple very expensive lamps over his head-  It’s between them.

Bill Clinton truly cared about this nation and its people when he was president. He is a Rhodes Scholar.

How does your resume compare?  I think we know the answer to that due to the ridiculous picture you chose to headline this post with-

Obama is nothing more that a house-boy for the elite, singular, big-business party that rules this country.  He is not “picking” his cabinet, rather the choices are being dictated to him by his string pullers.  This is not “change”, this is a continuation of 28 years of the same failed fiscal and foreign policy that has brought this country to it’s knees.  It is very unfortunate that many “liberals” think of the Clinton years as prosperous and harmless.  The fact is Clinton laid the groundwork for the current economic collapse, being a massive supporter of financial deregulation and pushing NAFTA and other initiatives which have proved to be damaging to the middle and lower classes.

Anyone who truly believes that Obama will deliver anything beneficial to the non-elite in this country is likely suffering from a form of dementia.  Trust me, I WANT to believe in this gimmick just as much as the next person, however I just can’t close my eyes to the truth.  Obama has supported the War in Iraq, the Patriot act, FISMA, FISA, the military commissions act, the Bailout, and many other damaging initiatives.  He wants to ramp up the war in Afghanistan and put military pressure on Iran.  An yet somehow, someway, 60-70% of the general population has deitized him grand Cesarean fashion as a champion for the poor and downtrodden. In reality nothing can be father from the truth.  The powers that be really pulled a slick one this time - beware the wolf in sheep’s clothing.  Don’t be a slave to to the Obama marketing campaign.  Open your eyes, do some research, and discover the truth.

LMAO!

Okay?!

Bringing back Administration 42 is not change I want to believe in. I really can’t see this being any more successful, served as stale leftovers, than back when this political lineup was a fresh and fairly interesting entree in the 90s. I don’t see Dem majorities in the Senate or the Congress enjoying this menu of taste-free Clinton leftovers any better than the Repugs did pre-Dumya.

I suppose time will tell….

Where do we begin? Let’s see…how about that 65% approval rating bit.

Perhaps in any other nation on this planet 65% might actually mean something, but here in the US, we gave George W. Bush ratings considerably higher than that for merely strutting about the Rose Garden like a cowpoke with a load in his britches. (It also speaks directly to the cold hearted Madeleine Albrights among the 65% who seemed to feel pretty confident that the deaths of over a half a million Iraqi children during Clinton’s term was “worth the price”.

Let me make sure I understand your take on Obama and his rather disappointing (agents of change for the better) political advisors and high level appointees.

Obama is going to spend his first term converting a pack of bloodthirsty neocon chickenhawks, Wall Street scoundrels, and some tired leftovers from as far back as the Nixon administration into a magnificent gathering of glowing progressive visionaries? Do you really believe that’s even remotely possible, Fred?

In the Public Interest: The More Things Change The More They Stay The Same
Ralph Nader 11/21/08

While the liberal intelligentsia was swooning over Barack Obama during his presidential campaign, I counseled “prepare to be disappointed.” His record as an Illinois state and U.S. Senator, together with the many progressive and long overdue courses of action he opposed during his campaign, rendered such a prediction unfortunate but obvious.

As an employee, one is successful if one correctly perceives the thing your employer wants.  Who among us hasn’t compromised so that we stay employed?  Until we see how this all plays out, this brouhaha is much ado about nothing.  While Obama wasn’t my first choice it is apparent he’s different.  The thing I do feel is true; he’s very, very, smart.  My optimistic side thinks this will play out in a very interesting, somewhat surprising way.  For the moment I’m willing to give him the benefit of doubt.  We are after all living in very interesting times.  smile

?antithetical?  Please define this “word”.

Clinton presidency:  Some failures to be sure,  but he left office with an approval rating of about 65%.  His tenure included the largest peacetime economic expansion in our history.  As the saying goes, what didn’t you like - the peace or the prosperity?

Another point:  Obama wants to make rapid changes to bolster the economy upon assuming the office - how is he to do that if he stocked his cabinet and advisors with Washington neophytes?
