Our local county (privately managed) hospital put my brother to sleep, involved 5 doctors and charged $3000.00 to lance a boil on his forearm.  The same hospital charged Medicare $1000.00 per 45 minute session for physical therapy when my mother fell and cracked her elbow.  The therapist’s total compensation package couldn’t have been over $25.00/hour

Funny thing Reubenesque, there are prime examples of how to run better health care systems around the world. You’d think that the premier Democracy (a bit tongue in cheek) would readily adopt more efficient systems. But alas, money/power whores have our pocket book. I’m sick of watching the Red-White-Blue horror show.

Thanks Hammered.  The DEA needs to be shut down and their resources applied to fight these Medicare/Medicade abuses.  We would be untold billions ahead.  This problem will continue to grow as our population ages.

I think localization and more personal oversite of equipment and expendables would go a long way in staunching this problem.
