I too, begrudgenly, will wait. Maybe stock up on some canned goods or just sorta get into a hunker down mode.
Report thisThe more I think about the recall GW=MCHammered brought up, if a movement was to ever get some organization to it then a revved version of recall where an ‘elected’ would be replaced but was hooked by the corporate interests would just as quick be recalled until someone and surely there would be someone that would reject personal gain for the good of a government of, by and for the people.
This would be one of those ‘lets drop everything to cancel recall’ actions from congress or the stooge supreme court but it could be worth the try. It would look pretty foolish if someone got elected then recalled and his replacement recalled until.. well a better functioning democracy formed.
Just some thoughts as being a less than violent method. But the criminals in power will do their best to divert the system to their favor, by hook or crook.

Samosamo and whoever may have the same concerns: I’m willing to wait to see what a Congress that is in overwhelming control by Dems. will do. However I have my doubts. They allways pee all over them selves when it comes to demonstrate courage to do what is right. That being said; one suggestion would be a general strike. I pray that if that time comes, I’ll have the courage to stand up and be counted among the patriots that will probably end up beaten and jailed. For now I’ll wait and watch…

I just remembered this and it was the gerrymandering that the telecoms did a couple of weeks or so ago when they hired people off the streets to wait in line to keep the public out of the hearings by the FCC on the telecom act. Actually so many of the members of congress were so put out that the FCC was required to do it again where the public would attend and not just homeless people out for a quick buck to obstruct the process.
Report thisThis is a common practice with lobbyists where they hire place holders to wait in line before a committee starts a hearing and just before the start the lobbyist come in and fill up the hearing where again the public or regular concerned citizens are kept out. If this could be regulated to stop this, even the concerned citizens could go in and be a part of the process. It could work, but it would mean more back door meetings to circumvent the process.

Report thisAnd boycotting might work but instead of a product, boycott a specific corporation for a month or 2 or 6. It might hurt the corporation but it would most probably get bought up real quick for not makeing a couple of their quartly earning projections.

Report thisThe only other alternative is to do what Thomas Jefferson said, throw the current government out and replace it with one that works for the people, and here is where he should have explained how but didn’t unless he was relying on the 2nd amendment to pull us through.
Other than that, it beats me because we still have to hope w & dick will give up the office and not play the absolute power directive card they conjured up in case of a natural disaster or another attack which could be as easily contrived as it was before. And then we may have to wait another few weeks or months like we did in 2007 to find out how the newly elected persons in congress will play out.
Do you have any ideas?

Almost every Democrat in Congress deserves a hard kick in the rear end for being lazy, cowardly, clueless, witless, naive, delusional and apparently had their fingers crossed when they took their oath of office to defend the Constitution. How can they live with themselves? Better yet, how can they continue to call themselves leaders of the Democratic Movement which used to support the concept of the Golden Rule rather than the crass He Who Has the Most Gold Rules. They all deserve to be voted out of office and would be but for the fact that the Republicans are all those things at the moment plus rapaciously greedy and infinitely scary as well. Scary trumps stupidity when deciding who not to vote for.
Nevertheless, if the supposed “Democrats” who are doing nothing but take up space in the halls of Congress cant put a halt to the depredations of the Republicans like the further extension of the odious and overtly unConstitutional FISA law, then we will ultimately find some real Democrats to run who can.

Samosamo: I have read the Declaration of Independence and can almost recite it verbatim. My question is what to do, when you have a rubber stamp Congress that is interested only in re-election and hand picked, vetted, Federal Judicial Ideologues? And let us not forget the compliant Main-stream media. Remember that people with six figure in-comes are not going to bite the hand that feeds them. Are main-stream media types willing to give back the ill-gotten gains that Bush has given them through tax cuts? We’ll see; I doubt it. It takes a very noble person to stand up and say the tax cut that is putting more money in my pocket is wrong and is hurting America. So,back to the question at hand; what to do???

The very idea that Rep, Nancy Pelosi, (D) Cal., would allow articles of impeachment against the shrub and Darth Vader, which is the intent and purpose of one the greatest Americans I have personally met, Rep, Dennis Kucinich, concerns me.
Report thisHaving voted almost exclusively with the shrub and Darth Vader on the war and its funding, I find it an almost incredible thing that the speaker of the House will allow the articles of impeachment to go forward.
Rep. Pelosi, is definitely in the pockets of those members of the military industrial complex that have funded her campaign and those who have voted for the special funding requests that the shrub and Darth Vader have used to fund the war, to the detriment of the infrastructure and our domestic economy.
It is more than an irksome thing, that the Congress which was elected to end this illegal and immoral conflict, has without a hitch, voted exclusively for the continuing resolutions that have funded the slaughter of nearly a million Iraqis and more than 4,000 American soldiers and Marines, not to mention the countless serious injuries that have been inflicted upon those who were doing their duty.
This along with the ever-growing problem of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, will bankrupt the Veterans Administration, they will not be able to handle the amount of people who cannot adjust to civilian life after the unjust and immoral actions that they have had to inflict upon an innocent people.
The fact that Rep. Kucinich and Rep. Dr. Ron Paul, have backed these articles of impeachment is in no way reflective of the majority of the members of the House. Most members of the House are weak-minded and in the pockets of the military industrial complex to the exclusion of listening to the people they represent. I am appalled by the lack of spine that has been shown by the Democratic Party, it is a sorry state of affairs when, what is supposed to be a loyal opposition, votes exclusively for an illegal and immoral conflict that was started by a group of neo-conservative, non-thinking people for whom war is an exercise in futility and not something that is real and injurious to the people who have to fight their battles.
Should the House go ahead with the articles of impeachment, I, for one, will gladly take the stand and proudly proclaim that the shrub and his gang of five have lied and cajoled their way into an international debacle which has caused the American public great harm and which will continue to cause greater harm until the armed forces of our country leave the region, and leave Iraq as requested by the government of Iraq.
I, will be thinking thoughts of hope and progress, not despair, in this matter. It is my desire that the shrub and Darth Vader face the music not only on the American stage, but in the World Court of the Hague for crimes against humanity, and genocide for the actions that led up to and including the Iraq invasion.

A few days ago the latest poll gave Congress’s approval rating in the single digits. Lower than der shrub’s and darth even. And yet the People will choose between 2 members of a group who are members of Congress. Makes you wonder about a process that allows people who can’t or won’t really do the People’s business and the People get so enthused over their possible election, doesn’t it? The Repugs used to at least have some decent if misguided people but they haven’t had those in a long time. And the Democrats have morphed into the Democan’ts and then into the Demowon’ts. There is less than a hair breadths distance between the 2 parties now.
The People will get the lesser of 2 evils, both chosen by the Wealthy Elite and the Corporations. Clearly Obama is the lesser but no one willingly lays down power. It must be wrested away from them sometimes with force of arms. Bush has drawn so much power to the office that men better than Obama would have a devil of a time not wanting to keep it for themselves. And Obama shows many signs that he is already willing to use that power and not in ways that will benefit the People.
Imagine that you are on a train and the conductor tells everyone that if the train arrives at its destination that everyone is doomed. What to do? Presently the passengers on this train are engaged in arguing over whether sitting on the right side of the train or the left side of the train is better. It does not change the destination nor the outcome once it arrives so all the arguing over where one sits is useless. What is needed is for someone to get out ahead of the train and lay new track, to change the destination and the outcome of arrival. Neither McSame or Obama are doing that. However, the Nader/Gonzales ticket would do that. Will they be given a fair chance? Probably not, because the People are so involved trying to decide which side of the train to sit on that they will continue on until they arrive at their final destination. Final being the operative word here.

Self admittions of not being able to muti-task when the time is convenient. No doubt, if he is like my senators, that barrier would be overcome in a heartbeat if it was adding on some earmarks and pork and having to meet with 10 or 15 lobbyists in a day. Whew! some hard work done there.

Just before he moves out of the White House, Bush can PARDON every single creep who has followed his orders over the past eight years to torture, kidnap, kill, snoop, invade, attack, lie, steal, plunder and generally commit the kind of mayhem despots and dictators like him, commit.
Maybe someone needs to point that out to Pelosi and Hoyer and Reed. All their fine talk about accountability will come to naught if they don’t do something RIGHT NOW!

No shit! What happened to Rep. Kucinichs articles of impeachment? Hey kids, Executive crime pays!
My congressman said they didn’t want to take focus from progress on education an health care pursuing Bush-Cheney (the siamese twins).
I explained that progress for most of my fifty-plus years, has been retral in both health care and education. So, efforts there can certainly wait.
There are no more public servants. Only self servers.
