Layton Calls on Conservatives to Stop Corporate Tax Cuts
Josh Pringle
Monday, February 25, 2008

NDP Leader Jack Layton suggests the Federal Government should be making investments in health care, education and infrastructure.

As Finance Minister Jim Flaherty prepares to table his third Federal budget, Layton says his support for the budget will be conditional on the Conservatives meeting the concerns of Canadians.

Layton told The Canadian Press Canada should be spending more on infrastructure.

The NDP Leader suggests the Conservative Government should stop subsidizing large oil companies and banks, adding Prime Minister Stephen Harper should abandon “massive” corporate tax cuts for Canada’s most profitable companies.

The NDP has stated it will vote against the budget, while Liberal leader Stephane Dion has said he wants to see the budget before deciding whether or not to support the Conservatives.
