By Greg, July 19, 2007 at 1:00 pm # Unfortunately, it’s not these two organizations (the dogs) who are kept in jail, they’re more like the kapos in the nazi camps. It’s the palestinians who are kept in jail by this messianistic apartheid state called Israel. http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?SectionID= 107&ItemID=13305

Given this, what other emblem would be appropriate on Olmert’s lapel? Exactly. Israel itself encourages a conflation of nation, ethnicity, and religion. Is it any wonder that it’s difficult to criticize the state of Israel without seeming to attack an ethnicity or a religion? Israel’s founding ideology caused it to adopt state symbols, such as the Star of David, that are also religious/ethnic symbols. If the Israelis don’t like the resulting confusion, maybe they should consider becoming a real democracy. That would mean properly separating race and religion from the definition of the state.

By Matt, June 19, 2007 at 1:40 pm # In #79195, lilmamzer writes: “Mr. Fish - I think you should have made Olmert’s nose bigger, you know, like a big hooked nose?” Aww, poor lilmamzer! Fisher failed to present himself to you as a flimsy little straw-man anti-Semite for you to knock down! So you were forced to endure the raw power and truth of the image, without having any easy way to dismiss it.
By AG, June 19, 2007 at 12:40 am # This picture isn’t completely accurate. It should have him poking the two groups with pointed sticks. Afterall, it is to Israel’s advantage to have the two sides fighting with each other, even if it is at the expense of the common Palistinian and peace in the Middle East.
