People it’s all about the fear. Notice that every time ratings are low, Karl Rove trots out a favorite scarry monster. To the ignoart, Gays = Pedophiles; Flag burning= enemies of freedom; not wanting the 10 comandments= Servant of the devel. Their message is unified, from Ann Coulter, Rush, O’Riley, Newt, Bill Frist to nutso Pat( Praying on T. V. for people to be killed) Robertson. They are not conserned with freedom, only control. Don’t kid yourself, they are FUCKING DANGEROUS!

Explain to me someone please how is banning of gay marriage protecting the traditional marriage???
My husband and I have been married for 7 years this July. Say, a gay couple is getting married. OK, how is it threatening to my “traditional” marriage (you know, me - woman, my husband - man)???
Anyone?

“I don’t feel that it is right to demonize someone for doing what he believes is morally right… If laws are not based upon morality, what can they be based upon? Bush is not trying to hand out drugs to children. He is trying to protect traditional marriage. What’s so bad about that?”
What’s so bad about that is that his morality is not the only morality there is, particularly in a culture as diverse as that in the US. As pointed out, Christians and scholars of all major religions are divided on this issue. It’s hard to reconcile an ancient manmade document with modern-day science and psychology. So the prudent thing to do - if Bush ever behaves prudently - is err on the side of caution instead of going on a modern-day witchhunt to placate Christian bigots.
As for Bush doing what he believes is morally right, I’m trying hard not to laugh. Is anyone keeping total of the lies he’s told to justify his sending Americans to their death in the Middle East? Somewhere, actually I think in the Bible, it is said that lying is a sin. And killing, maybe, and destroying people’s property, too, I think. OH, yeah, that Bush is one moral fella!
Hypocrite.

I don’t think the push for this amendment has anything to do with “protecting traditional marriage” (whatever that is). Rather, I think it’s more about Dubya and the GOP trying to throw a bone to the militant fundamental wing of the party...to try and shore up their support before the November elections.

The problem with the Gay Marriage ban is that it purposely excludes people based on one religious ideology that is debated even amongst those of that religion. The US is supposed to allow all peoples, all creeds, all colors and allow for equality amongst our people, but this would radically change our Constitution and who knows where it goes from there. When you take one groups rights away, you open the door to taking rights away from more groups, until we don’t have any protections of our rights anymore.
Report thisAs to traditional marriage, I don’t see how one marriage affects another. How does it affect you that 2 people who love each other get married. People choose to define their marriage in their own ways all the time. It doesn’t change your relationship with your spouse when people of a different religion get married and move in next door. Your relationship is still as it was before. If we say that you can only get married if you follow this rule based on this religion, it opens the door to say that you can only get married if you are a part of this religion. And please don’t confuse morality with dogma. They are different. I think it is morally wrong to tell adults who love each other that they can’t marry. Love is the important part of any marriage.

George Bush is the elected President of the United States. He is not the moral leader of this country. He is not a guru or a spiritual guide, nor is he the Pope or the Dali Lama.
Report thisHe has decieved the American Public on the war and has allowed the moral standing of this country to deteriorate around the world. If anything he is in Biblical terms, a wolf in sheeps clothing.

I don’t feel that it is right to demonize someone for doing what he believes is morally right. Would you rather have a leader who does not stand by his morals? Some people say that you can’t legislate morality. This is not true. Morality is the basis for laws. We make laws against killing other people because we feel it is wrong to kill people. There also laws against prostitution and drug use. Alcohol was once prohibited. If laws are not based upon morality, what can they be based upon? Bush is not trying to hand out drugs to children. He is trying to protect traditional marriage. What’s so bad about that?
