Gen. McChrystal’s Last Champion

It might have been better for Gen. Stanley McChrystal if Defense Secretary Robert Gates had piped up a little earlier but, nonetheless, Gates comes to McChrystal’s, uh, defense in this interview with The Associated Press.

And guess what? Gates plays that old reliable refrain, opining that McChrystal’s incendiary statements were “taken out of context by virtue of the Rolling Stone article.” Perhaps a little cold comfort for the Runaway General.  —KA
