In the wake of Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s announcement that she would not seek re-election in 2014, CNN host Anderson Cooper took the Republican to task on his program Wednesday night for making “factually incorrect statements” (that’s putting it mildly) over the years, including some that she made on his show.
“In her four terms in the House, Bachmann has certainly been a lightning rod for controversy,” he began. “She’s made .. several memorable and frankly factually incorrect statements about everything from President Obama to the HPV vaccine. On this program, she made a claim about the price tag on a trip the president was taking that was pure fiction.”
Cooper then played a clip of some of Bachmann’s CNN interviews in which she made wildly misleading claims, before turning to political analysts John King and David Gergen to discuss the tea party favorite’s congressional legacy.
