William Donohue, executive director of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, began his appearance on “The Colbert Report” on Tuesday by swiping at the host with a ruler. After Colbert confiscated the ruler, Donohue went on to hit a home run for tolerance by challenging the nativity of Native Americans and the motives of Hollywood Jews.
The guest offered the plight of Native Americans as an example of misplaced liberal guilt, after which he said: Im a native American. I was born in New York City, and those people came from Asia so theyre not really native Americans anyhow.

Partial transcript:
Colbert: You have said Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity in general, and Catholicism in particular. Its not a secret, Okay? And Im not afraid to say it. Why arent you afraid to say it? Im scared. I could never say that.
Donohue: Look the only part in there which Ive written about, uh, that I dont like is that verb control. Theres no, theres no kind of conspiracy going on here
Colbert: But you say control, whyd you?
Donohue: I know that and I corrected that. All Im simply saying is this: there is an animus in Hollywood disproportionately by secular Jews against Catholics and Evangelicals. A lot of my Jewish friends will admit the same thing. Now its not about because youre a Jew, that therefore youre anti-Catholic. What Im simply saying is the secular mindset, which also includes in that same segment I mention a lot of ex-Catholics, some people who are in the Evangelical community which I mention in that same, I think it was Scarborough a couple of years ago, I got a lot of attention off of that thing now look, Hollywood used to put out movies which all Catholics could feel proud about. For a very long time
Colbert: Birth of a Nation was a good one.
