Dylan video
youtube.com

Is yet another Christmas album from a recording artist who just might be phoning it in really necessary? Bob Dylan apparently thought so. He’s released his own holiday collection, “Christmas in the Heart,” from which this odd little polka number—and its even stranger accompanying video—has sprung. It’s not entirely clear whether Dylan’s even mouthing the words through much of his screen time here, but that’s not even the half of it.(?!)  —KA

I don’t know about any body else but those video advertisements that start
immediately upon accessing the forums are driving me crazy!  TD had better get
rid of them as they detract from the website immensely.  Yikes!  How crass.

Here is a present.

Visit http://www.bobdylan.com/
15 albums listed across the top, click on any one of them and a list of songs
will show up on the right, select your favorites for a preview of the songs.  I
have all of these albums.  Guess you could say ahs likes his music.

If you don’t know about FreeNapster at free.napster.com/ you ought to try it
out for any kind of music.  You could hear the entire Christmas in the Heart
album and nine others.

We’ve been listening to the Brave Combo version for years.  Kind of odd to hear Dylan do it with Brave Combo’s complete polka arrangement, down to the listing of president names along with the reindeer!

I will take that kind of holiday strangeness any time. What a fun and funny video.  What have you got against polka music?

The left, as represented by the editors of Truthdig, has even less sense of humor than the right. This is brilliant, fun, and so Dylan. Glad to see someone took the time to point out that he is donating all the proceeds from the CD to charity (specifically, to fight hunger, I believe.)

Brilliant, and yet deranged. Like the man himself. And that’s why we love him.
Some folks aren’t gonna get it, and that’s cool….

If [Bob Dylan] were to start today he couldn`t even get a contract.

You make that claim as if it amounted to some telling indictment of Bob Dylan.

It’s actually a telling indictment of how the integrity of the music business has deteriorated over the past 30 or so years.

oh, one more thing. I checked the website. Bob Dylan is donating ALL the money he would have gotten from this to charity.

It really is “Christmas in the Heart” So i will buy it.

Well, I’ve never really listened to him. I found his singing style uncomfortably grating. Yeah, yeah, burn me at the stake for that… The thing that really shocked me about this video is that Dylan was on key and had a lovely voice! One I’d never heard him use. And it was just… perky!

(I also don’t make up who I listen to sing the Blues. Some of it sucks out loud to my ear…)

Possibly breeze is right.

And if he/she is right, isnt it wonderful that people are considered not just for “what have you done for me lately”, but are instead indulged because of what they did in the past.

Makes me happy. Maybe thats the point?

Come on , if this wasn`t Bob Dylan no one would even look at this for ten seconds. The birth of Dylan apologists. If he were to start today he couldn`t even get a contract.

That’s fun! It brought back the “old” Christmases I remember as a kid. The house and crowd ... wow. Well done!

Great!
Yuletide weirdness is exactly what I would expect from Bob Dylan,
... although, not even half as weird when considering the way Americans celebrate
Christmas, comparatively speaking.

We’ve needed this for a long time.

For those of you who were too young at the time, this is what the late 1990s were like.

“Phoning it in?” Listen, if you can’t hear the commitment...

Fun! Bob Dylan was having fun. At his last concert (that i went to!) a week or two ago he was laughing and joking and put on a very artistic show.

So good for him.
