More and more American women face the trauma of combat, yet post-traumatic stress disorder is often presented as a uniquely male condition. According to this short documentary, the number of women suffering from PTSD symptoms has doubled in the past 10 years. Women should get better treatment in the military, both during and after their service. Men should too, by the way.
While on the subject of gender equality in the Armed Forces, young women should also be required to register for the draft, as our young men are already required to do.
There’s no draft now, and I hope there never is another, but if we do have a military draft again, why should only our young men be forced to serve?
